Family of 5 give up house to call RV home as they travel the world together

Jaren and Molly Garcia used to live in Joshua, Texas, with their three children.

They had a traditional three-bedroom, two-bathroom home.

They were happy with their life.

But something was missing.

You see, Jaren used to work in sales and he would travel for work all the time, while Molly was at home taking care of the children and all things home-related.

At some point, the couple realized that what they were missing the most was quality time together as a family.

You see, sometimes Jaren had to be away from home for whole weeks or even months.

That’s when Molly figured that they would be better off as a family even if they had to live in an RV and drive nationwide following Jaren on his work trips.

That’s exactly what they ended up doing.

It started with decluttering.

In November 2018, they decluttered their home, leaving 98% of their belongings behind, and keeping only what was necessary for their transition to tiny living.

They had to discuss something else.

Another topic they had to discuss very seriously was the children’s education.

After considering their options, they decided that the best for them would be homeschooling, which Molly would do, along with creating content for their blog, YouTube channel, and social media platforms.

And, although building the perfect RV home for their family was not an easy project- and certainly not a cheap one- the couple is not regretting their decision one bit.

After all, the children have gotten to live such experiences that they would never have had if they had not decided to move out of their traditional home.

Modern-day nomading was the right move.

Over the last four years, Jaren has also switched jobs and is currently working as an independent insurance adjuster, while he also drives their 44-foot motorhome.

The family moved into a new RV.

More specifically, a 2020 Heritage Glen Wildwood 378FL 5th wheel that’s pulled by a 2020 Ford F-350 Dually.

The kids have been incredibly benefitted by this decision since they have been to more museums, zoos, libraries, and national parks than they would have ever been had they not opted for RV living as a family.

A couple of years ago, they also had the chance to live for several months in Europe.

They even reunited with foreign family.

They went to France, and they also lived close to their family in Germany, whom they were visiting for the first time.

All five of them love their new life and they wouldn’t trade it for anything.

After all, they have invested so much in it, both financially and emotionally, that it would be a shame to let go of their dream.

They’ve even saved money.

On a more practical side, the couple explains that they have also saved money since they don’t have to pay expensive rent anymore and they cook their own meals.

Of course, they highlight that they still need to be careful because it’s easy for expenses to get out of control, especially given the fuel prices that have gone up lately.
