Family abandons sweet pit bull to be euthanized at shelter because they’re having a baby

We were heartbroken after reading a story about Stormy, the dog whose family dumped him at a local animal shelter in Brooklyn.

Despite being incredibly sweet and full of love, the poor dog was too much for his parents, who were waiting for their fifth child.

After being abandoned at a shelter, Stormy ended up on the waiting list to be put down. Luckily, the dog was saved at the last minute. Let’s check out the unbelievable story of a dog who was given a well-deserved second chance of finding a loving home.

Stormy’s name was Freshy, but volunteers at the shelter decided to give him another name to go hand-in-hand with his new life.

Despite knowing it was a cruel decision, the family ended up leaving their loyal pet alone. They had enough responsibility to dump him at a local shelter called Eleventh Hour Rescue.

Unfortunately, it’s one of the busiest shelters in Brooklyn, and Stormy was scheduled to be put down.

Alana Guerrini, a volunteer and foster carer at the shelter, couldn’t let it happen to Stormy, a playful, loving 2-year-old pit bull.

“You could see the fear and terror in his eyes in that picture [at the shelter], and you could see how brokenhearted he was,” Guerrini said. “I looked at that face, and it absolutely crushed me.”

In an interview with The Dodo, Alana explained that Stormy was a perfect family dog. He had spent his entire life living in a family with four children, two dogs, and a cat.

Stormy got along with everyone, and yet it wasn’t enough for the family to keep him. We can’t imagine how scared and confused the poor doggo was when he realized that his family would not pick him up.

The poor dog was scheduled to be put down around 5 p.m.

By some stroke of luck, just a few minutes before 5, Alana was told that she could foster the dog.

Guerrini’s happiness was endless. She managed to save a good doggy. Alana planned to become Stormy’s foster parent until he found his forever home, and her 16-year-old son was more than thrilled to hang around with Stormy.

Amazingly, Guerrini’s son and Stormy became best friends.

As time went by, Alana realized that the dog was even more gentle than she could have ever imagined. Every time her son played with the dog, Stormy would be extremely careful not to scratch the boy.

When Alana’s son was sick, Stormy would spend the whole day by his side, waiting for him to get better. When they first drove Stormy home, Guerrini said that the dog wanted to sit on her son’s lap the whole time. That’s how she knew that Stormy was a perfect dog for her family.

Stormy was adopted and in 2019, and he now has a loving home.

Alana Guerrini announced via her Facebook page that Stormy was adopted. Although her family misses the little fellow, they are more than happy that Stormy is now safe and surrounded with love.

Stormy’s story is very inspirational because it shows that love and compassion can restore any animal’s faith in humans.

If you’re looking to adopt a pet, the Eleventh Hour Rescue’s official page offers a list of dozens of dogs you can choose from.

Some dogs were rescued from euthanasia, others were found stray, and some animals were left behind. Nevertheless, all of them are waiting for your love.
