Family opens new bookstore and appoints their Golden Retrieved as manager
There are tons of things to consider before putting up a business. To name a few, budget, location, type of business, trend, marketing, and choosing the right people to hire.
Well, for one family, choosing the best person to manage their business was as easy as A-B-C!
Stacy Gould and her family opened a bookstore and they decided to pick their furry companion to manage it.

Why not? Thinking about it, none of the family members had the time to do the job. Stacy and her husband spend all day at work, and so are their children at school. She realized things wouldn’t work out because she was the only one who could spare time to visit their bookstore… and also their Golden Retriever, Ruby.

To the Goulds, Ruby is not just a pet but a family member. She is the one friendly furry friend and loves being around people. Whoever sees her instantly falls in love with her dense, lustrous golden fur and vibrant aura.
Her friendliness is perfect for the bookstore where people usually come and go.

The thought popped up as a bright idea and a win-win situation for everyone, especially for Ruby. That only meant more cuddles, more belly rubs and massages, and more treats for her!
Soon after, they finally came in with the idea of not only letting Ruby be in the bookstore every day.
They have decided to name the bookstore after Ruby, they also made her the co-owner, and appointed her as the manager!

Her breed is actually perfect for the role. According to the American Kennel Club: “The Golden Retriever, an exuberant Scottish gundog of great beauty, stands among America’s most popular dog breeds. They are serious workers at hunting and field work, as guides for the blind, and in search-and-rescue, enjoy obedience and other competitive events, and have an endearing love of life when not at work.”
“Ruby would have to come with me every day to the store, so we thought, ‘Why don’t we name the store after Ruby?’” Gould told The Dodo.

How’s that for a pooch?
Ruby loves every bit of her job and she’s taking her job pretty seriously. Not a single customer walks into the bookstore without the adorable pooch’s sweet greetings. The business has been running for just a year and a half but the community already loved them, particularly its furry manager.
“The customers love Ruby and she has become quite the staple here on Sutter Street,” Stacy Gould said. “We often joke that the people come for the books but stay for the dog!”
Worry not because Ruby was never physically exhausted and is living a normal life.

Just like regular workers, she also enjoys rest days. She only works Monday through Friday and spoils herself during weekends with her loving family.
Although there’s no telling if she really knows the position she holds in the bookstore, what’s obvious is that she’s doing everything right.
“Her duties include greeting each customer at the door, rolling over for endless belly rubs, sniffing out treats within pockets of our customers, mopping the floor with her very fluffy tail [and] reading (well she pretends [to]) alongside the kiddos in our children’s section,” Gould said.

Ruby also loves hanging around the bookstore goers. She sits with them, plays with them, asks for some belly rubs, treats, and even listens to stories. She simply loves being with people as much as they love her too!
