Mom jumps in during daughters' dance class and completely steals the show
Sometimes ya just gotta move.
Dancing’s a primal art form, inherent to practically every single culture on the planet. It’s not just for the young, not at all. In fact, the best dancers are those that have been in the game for years and years and years.
Phil Wright, an accomplished choreographer that’s worked with the likes of MC Hammer and Will Smith, founded the “The Parent Jam” as a means of bringing friends and families together through dance. He also produces and choreographs for the Disney show Disney Fam Jam.
His dance courses have turned countless cocoon scrub dancers into beautiful butterflies. They’re even offered online. Sometimes he releases showcases of his choreography and students. The results are glorious:
“Let’s Groove” by Earth, Wind, and Fire occupies the airwaves.
Mom’s no slouch. Her choreography’s just as spunky and rambunctious as the girls’.
This Phil Wright production’s a fun routine for general audiences set to club classic “Let’s Groove” by Earth, Wind, and Fire. Men and women of all ages join in. Most of them don’t look like typical “dancers,” breaking all sorts of ignorant stereotypes. This particular production features a rotating group of ten dancers comprised of friends and family.
The gentleman in the blue shirt’s completely drenched, but he’s not tired. In fact, he can go all day.
But the young girl at the front of the trio steals the show for a few seconds. Her choreography’s sharp and snappy.
In the wise words of renowned funk group Chic, “My feet keep dancin’, dancin’.”
Coincidentally, Chic’s guitarist, the legendary Nile Rodgers, also performs on Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.”
A ferocious foursome steps up, featuring a frizzy-haired girl with glasses that absolutely murders (in a good way) the choreography.
Frizzy Hair’s facial expressions are absolutely on point. She even sticks out her tongue intermittently, deep in a dancing trance. Don’t knock her confidence. She knows what she’s doing.
A dynamic duo enters the fold. Although the gentleman on the right doesn’t look the part to the unsuspecting eye, he absolutely kills it (again, in the best sense of the word).
His footwork is fiery and fantastic!
Each move is precise and confident. Their swagger’s unreal.
Phil’s choreography proves perfect for all sizes and age groups. The next family steps up, ready to boogie. Although not exactly advisable, this guy literally has a baby strapped to his chest.
He and his miniature partner proceed to light up the dance floor.
Overall, ten separate groups are featured, including a handful of families. Even the younglings can move. They’re definitely better than I am. The most enjoyable aspect of the showcase (outside of the incredible choreography) is the general joy on all faces, not only during their respective dances, but also as support to fellow dancers.
The Phil Wright “Let’s Groove” production acts as a wonderful sampler showcase. The group looks like a random collection of individuals with one thing in common – they love to dance. Phil’s clearly whipped them all into shape, instilling a newfound confidence in each.
Dancing’s a truly beautiful art form, perfect for almost all audiences. Whether working off those extra calories or just casually moving to the rhythm, dance your day away. What are you waiting for? There’s no better time than now.
