After 4 years of searching, Georgia family finds lost dog living in Philadelphia streets

Jodi Chamlee adopted an adorable pitbull whom she named Gucci, from a rescue shelter in Georgia. Gucci became her trusty companion, and she loved him very much.

Jodi saved her with the intention of giving her a better life. Gucci had previously endured a rough upbringing and her new mama promised to never let her go through anything like that again.

But a cruel turn of events ended up separating Jodi from her beloved dog during her move from Georgia to Tennessee. Her family was absolutely heartbroken. But no matter what, and even though Gucci was getting older, they never gave up searching for her. They never lost hope in the pursuit of finding their pup.

But by some miracle, four years later, 15-year-old Gucci was found on the streets in Philadelphia.

Her owners were entirely shocked. It was too wild to believe. Gucci had turned up more than 800 miles from home.

As it turns out, Gucci was rescued by Marvin and Jessica Graaf wh work for the Philly Bully Team, a subset of the Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT).

Marvin and Jessica could tell that poor Gucci had lived a rough four years, just based on the condition she was in when they found her. She was in very bad condition and was in dire need of medical care.

“I’m a sucker for old dogs, so I said let’s pick this dog up and get her to the hospital right away.” – Jessica Graaf

Gucci (or, Sally, as the rescue had temporarily named her) was treated right away for arthritis and both ear and skin infections.

Jodi realized that Gucci had been found when ACCT Philly shared a post to their social media about Gucci, and through the magic of the internet, Jodi was able to recognize her missing baby.

She stumbled upon the photos of Gucci when her friend, who knew that Jodi was still hoping to find her dog one day, sent her the post. She couldn’t be absolutely sure that it was Gucci in the photo, though, and it seemed highly unlikely that she would have made it so very far from home, but she commented on the photo anyway.

She let ACCT know that Jodi had lost a Pitbull four years earlier when she was moving from Georgia to Tennessee.

“I mean, obviously at first, I was like, there’s no way.” – Marvin Graaf

Jessica contacted Jodi and they compared notes for a couple of hours before confirming that it was in fact, the missing Gucci.

It was an unlikely miracle, but it seemed that finally, after four years, Jodi and Gucci would finally be reunited.

Jodi Chamlee, her husband and her two daughters immediately jumped into their car and drove 800 miles from Georgia to Philadelphia to pick up their beloved recovered dog.

“I couldn’t wait anymore. I couldn’t bear the thought of her thinking that mama wasn’t going to come for her.” – Jodi Chamlee

We can’t think of any words to accurately describe how incredibly grateful Jodi is to the two animal rescuers who saved her girl Gucci.

Their tremendous hearts and their dedication to their jobs is the reason why families like Jodi’s are able to be reunited with their pets again. Not to mention, they help stray and mistreated dogs without homes to find new homes, too.

Gucci is finally able to enjoy the rest of her life with people who adore her, and we’re confident that after all this, her owners will be extra careful not to let her out of their sight again!

This pup is a one of a kind survivor that gives us hope that regardless of trials and tribulations in life, miracles truly do happen.
