Family rescues 7 dogs – gives them everything they could want including their own beds

Dani Viverito developed her love for dogs when she was young. She would bring home strays so she could take care of them. This love of dogs has followed her into adulthood, as she and her husband currently have seven rescue dogs.

A way of life

“We kind of just gradually became rescuers; if there was a dog in need, we took them in and try to give them their best life ever,” Viverito told The Dodo. “We have been together for 18.5 years and have had just as many rescues!”

The biggest challenge with having so many dogs under one roof is that each has a different personality. This has led to Viverito and her husband keeping a strict schedule with the dogs that they own. This is done to ensure that everything runs peacefully and none of her dogs feel left out.

Dealing with so many dogs

“They all get along for the most part, but two are more ‘unstable’ so I have the group of five on one schedule and a group of two on another, and I swap them out every three hours around the clock,” Viverito said.

For their part, the dogs have learned their schedule and tend to stick to it. It’s all for the best though since Viverito doesn’t want any of her pets to feel neglected.

“It’s so ingrained at this point we don’t even need alarms! That way everyone has an equal amount of … time to play, potty, eat, snuggle with us humans, and walk around doing their own thing. And then they go down for nap time for three hours, where they can sleep or play or do whatever.”

All of the dogs have a set schedule

In addition to having a set schedule, each dog also has a designated bedroom. They also have their very own bed, so there are no fights about who sleeps where.

“They all run and break off into their designated rooms when I call cookie time,” Viverito said. “Jax, Sasha, and Annabelle are in one room, and Muppet is in the other with Harlin. When Tyler and Tucker are down, they each have their own room.”

Each dog has their own bed

Viverito has provided a toddler bed for each dog. They are a perfect size, and the dogs seem to like them. She got the beds after using a few queen-sized mattresses, but their bulky size made the beds extremely hard to move around to clean, so she had to look for something smaller.

Viverito wouldn’t trade her lifestyle for the world

“With toddler beds, everything is small so I can do all the sheets at once and the comforters two at a time,” Viverito said. “Sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping is easy with toddler beds that are light and slide around versus heavy mattresses and beds!”

Having so many dogs does have its drawbacks. In addition to their different personalities, living with so many dogs can get hectic at times. But Viverito and her husband don’t mind. They love their dogs so much that they wouldn’t trade their lifestyle for anything.
