Family hears weird noises – then spots a pair of eyes staring at them from their fireplace
Going out to spend time with nature is a fun and beneficial activity. Communing with the outdoors allows us to see beautiful green trees, majestic mountains, serene lakes, and wildlife in their natural habitat. After all, these are things you do not see every day around your home. However, in rare occasions, wild animals come into contact with humans by accident.
Many animals get caught in troublesome situations each year. Sometimes, the animal can’t get out of that situation on its own. It can happen anywhere. It can even happen in your home.
Like this family in England
A family from England started noticing that something strange was happening in their home. They kept hearing a weird noise but they couldnāt figure out where the noise was coming from. They also couldn’t identify what the noise was. They eventually realized the disturbing sound was coming from their fireplace.
Then they saw something unusual
After a while, the family got used to the mysterious noise. Because they weren’t seeing anything wrong or unusual inside the house, they just thought the noise was part of the houseās structure. But then one day, they suddenly saw something in the fireplace that made them jump off their seats.
Something was trapped inside
At first glance, they saw an odd silhouette inside their fireplace. They decided to take a closer look to make sure the shape wasn’t just a figment of their imagination. Lo and behold, behind those fireplace grills was a bird. It wasn’t just any bird– it was an owl!
They had to contact the proper authorities
The family wasted no time contacting the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) for help. Lauren Bailey, an inspector at the RSPCA, arrived at their house in response to their call. Bailey said, āThe family had been hearing noises from the chimney and fireplace for a few days but had no idea there was a bird trapped inside until he fell all the way to the bottom.ā The owl was no doubt a huge surprise to the family.
A concerned family
Understandably, the family didnāt want an owl living with them. But they didnāt call the RSPCA just to conveniently get rid of the bird. They were genuinely concerned about the owl. If it took them a while to realize that there was an owl stuck in their fireplace, it means that he has been living there for days without food and water. They knew the owl needed help as soon as possible.
Help finally arrives
As Bailey came to the house, the owl looked happy to see that he was about to be rescued. Bailey said, āHe had his feet up against the grill like he was waving and asking for help.ā The owl was eager to get out of the fireplace.
The rescue
Before handling the distressed owl, Bailey put on her safety gloves. Though the owl was eager to be freed from the fireplace, Bailey knew that its huge talons could cause serious injury without the necessary protective gear. To make sure that the owl wouldn’t get hurt or startled, she had to remove the grill slowly and carefully. She finally removed the trapped bird. The rescue was a success and the owl was safe in safe hands.
Taking care of the owl
Because the owl spent a considerable amount of time stuck in the fireplace, it was only fitting that he be brought to the animal hospital for further treatment. According to Bailey, he looked really scrawny and its feathers were covered in soot. The bird was probably stuck longer than the family realized and is in need of tender loving care.
On his way to recovery
Fortunately for both the family and the owl, the bird is now in the hospital. Updates say that he is recovering finely. Once he completely recovers, he will be sent back to live in the wild where he belongs.
Caring for animals
This family is a great example of how wildlife should be treated. They showed us the importance of helping animals in need and protecting them when their lives are at risk. They saved an owl that was in danger. They called wildlife experts to ensure he gets the proper help. Because of this family’s compassion towards wildlife, the owl is going to be okay.
