Witnesses say family came back to pick up belongings from home but left their dog behind

Some of us are fortunate to not understand how it feels to be abandoned.

The act is cruel enough in itself as far as humans are concerned but for animals, it is much more painful because they will never understand the reason why.

A lot of abandoned dogs stay in the place where they are left, quietly hoping that their humans will come back for them. In the end, these loyal animals wonder why they deserved such treatment.

There’s a heartbreaking scene in a neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan.

Right outside a specific house, pieces of furniture and appliances were laid out by the sidewalk. One of the things left out in the open is a used mattress.

And on a mattress is a splotched pit bull. The dog is sleeping as he is used to the smell of these things. After all, he is the dog of the family that lives in the house.

However, Boo didn’t know that the family was moving.

Moreover, he didn’t know that he was not included in the trip. For days, he slept on the discarded mattress and prayed that his owners come back for him.

Days turned to weeks, and weeks turned into a month. He was still there, lonely, cold, and still hoping. Fortunately, there are kind-hearted people who watch over him.

The next-door neighbor took a photo of Boo.

He posted the heartbreaking photo of the lonesome dog on a local social media page so he could ask for help. Mike Diesel, founder of Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue saw the pictures.

“He was just lying there, being his loyal self,” Diesel said to The Dodo. “Pillows were still on the mattress.

Being the loyal dog he was supposed to be, he waited for his master to come back.”

Diesel went to the neighborhood and spotted the dog.

Boo was anxious at first but Diesel didn’t give up. He gave him food and talked to him for fifteen hours just to get the dog to trust him.

Boo finally took a chance on Diesel. He then took him to the shelter so they could give him a full health check-up. Unfortunately, Boo is in a bad shape. He has parasites, among other illnesses.

At that moment, Diesel assured Boo that he was never going to be alone.

Through the help of Diesel, the shelter, and donation, Boo recovered and gained back the confidence to trust other people.

Eventually, Boo was taken under foster care by a family in Detroit. Even better than that, the whole process resulted in a foster failure.

From then on, and in the days to come, Boo will never be alone.

He now lives with a family that loves him and spoils him whenever they get a chance. Diesel, the man who rescued him, also had the opportunity to check on him every now and then.

“Boo eats rotisserie chicken and filet mignon on the regular and is beyond spoiled,” Diesel said. “I’ve been able to visit him a lot which makes me happy. I’ve probably been to see him six to eight times now and he’s beyond happy with his new life.”
