4 years after Georgia family loses their dog – they find her living in Philadelphia streets

Losing a pet is one of the most heartbreaking things to happen to a family. Those pets become apart of the family completing all of the family portraits. As for this pit bull mom, Jodi Chamlee things seemed bleak when she was moving from Georgia to Tenessee with her daughter and husband.

Their beloved pitbull Gucci was traveling with them to their new home when they stopped at a rest stop where Gucci was startled by a noise and she ran off.

The Chamlee’s were devasted to lose their pitbull who Jodi rescued back in Georgia. But Jodi searched countless shelters to find her sweet Gucci and she wasn’t going to stop. Every shelter Jodi called had the sad news that Gucci was nowhere in their care… A piece of Jodi’s heart was missing but she stayed hopeful.

Incredibly 4 years went by when members of The Philly Bully Team found Gucci in the streets of Philidelphia!

That’s right… 800 miles from her home.

Jessica and Marvin Graff work for Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT) and rescued Gucci who they named Sally at the time of the rescue. “Sally” was in serious condition and they knew she needed medical attention right away.

When Jessica and Marvin took “Sally” to the veterinary hospital she was treated for arthritis and both skin and ear infections.

“Sally” had a lot to recover from but she proved to be stronger day by day. Later ACCT Philly shared a photo of “Sally’s” remarkable rescue and that’s when Jodi Chamlee’s dear friend saw the post and was shocked to realize “Sally” might really be Jodi’s dog Gucci!

Jodi’s friend immediately reached out to the ACCT Philly team explaining the heartbreaking story of how Gucci ran away when the Chamlee’s were moving from Georgia to Tennessee 4 years ago.

As soon as Jodi got word of the ACCT Philly’s rescue story she reached out to prove that “Sally” was in fact her beloved Gucci. Rescuer Marvin Graff was baffled and even admitted,

“I mean, obviously at first, I was like, there’s no way.”

It’s brain-boggling to believe “Sally” the pitbull traveled 800 miles from where she was lost.

But Jodi shared medical records, certain spots on Gucci’s belly that only her true owner would know, proving “Sally” was in fact her Gucci.

Gucci was now 15 years old and Jodi couldn’t wait any longer to finally be back with her dog. So Jodi, her husband, and two daughters were ready for an 800-mile road trip to be back with Gucci.

Although it’ll take Gucci just a bit to be feeling like her old self, Jodi was filled with tears to finally be back with her.

Fate was definitely on the Chamlee’s side when the Graff’s rescued the unstoppable Gucci. Jodi wiped her tears when she told CBS Philly,

“I promised her the day that I rescued her she would not have to go through any more pain, and I only broke half of that promise. The family is finally back together, it has not been the same.”

Remarkably Gucci survived life on the streets and would be back safe with her family after 4 years!
