In show of love for his sister, brother camps out for 27 hours to adopt a very special dog

Sometimes when you get your heart set on a particular dog, you will go out of your way to make sure the dog becomes your pet. In one family’s case, this meant camping outside a shelter for 27 hours to adopt a dog with fur in the shape of a heart on her chest. But it almost didn’t happen.
Thankfully, the brother of the dog’s eventual mom was there to save the day.
A dog with a heart on its chest

It all started when Broken Arrow Animal Shelter posted a picture of a collie on its Facebook page. On her chest, surrounded by white fur was a black heart. After seeing her picture on the shelter’s page, a Tulsa, Oklahoma, couple immediately fell in love with her.
The couple was just one of the many hundreds who had expressed an interest in adopting the special dog.
Playing the waiting game

Unfortunately, according to the shelter’s Website, the shelter had to wait five days after taking an animal in before they could adopt them out. Seeing as the dog’s adoption was on a first-come-first-serve basis, chances were that unless they went out of their way, the couple would not be able to adopt the dog.
The biggest obstacle that the couple faced was that they both had to work. Instead, their brother decided to help them out.
A brother’s love for his sister

The woman’s brother offered to camp outside the shelter and be there to adopt the beautiful black dog as soon as she was allowed to be adopted. The couple had an upcoming wedding, and this would be a gift from a loving brother to his sister.
So, 27 hours before the dog was set to be put up for adoption, the brother set up camp outside the rescue shelter.
Adopting the dog

On the day in question, the brother was there as the staff opened up the shelter. The brother was able to adopt the dog for his sister and her husband-to-be. Taking the dog home, the couple named the dog Luna, a name they had picked out long before she became a part of their family.
The shelter posted on its Facebook page about the dog’s adoption:
“This precious baby girl has touched the hearts of people around the U.S., and we are happy to announce that she has found her new furever home!!! Thank you to everyone that has shared our post.”
