It is an even more worthy bid if it’s an auction for a cause.

One may spend thousands of dollars on items they might not need, but the amount they bid will help people out there. This is one great reason people who can afford to bid buy things off auctions.

This fan (whose identity remains a mystery) did more than help a charity.

Julien’s Auctions is one of the leading auctioneers in the market, specializing in pop culture and sports memorabilia. They hold different auctions for different purposes, one of which was an auction of Olivia Newton-John’s most prized items.

The auction featured her iconic costumes from her hit movie, Grease.

The collection featured beautiful items that any fan would like to get their hands on, from costumes to awards, signed posters to premiere gowns. The auction was for the benefits of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

This foundation hits close to home for Olivia.

She battled breast cancer twice and another bout with cancer in her spine. As a fighter and survivor, she wanted to create a foundation to provide cancer care and support and give other patients hope.

One of her biggest fans won a bid on her leather jacket on the said auction.

He won the item with a winning bid of $243,200. That is a lot of money for a leather jacket, don’t you think? But what this man did was not only help out ONJ Cancer Centre. It turns out he planned for something more.

The video starts with Olivia closing her eyes, bracing for a surprise. When she opened her eyes, the man came in with a pink box for her. She took many guesses as to what was in the box, but she never would’ve guessed it.

The winning bidder read out a message for Olivia about his present.

The message says:

“This jacket belongs to you and the collective soul of those who love you, those for whom you are the soundtrack of their lives. It should not sit in a billionaire’s closet for country club bragging rights. For this reason, I humbly and respectfully return it to its rightful owner, which is you.”

Hearing this left Olivia in shock. She couldn’t believe her jacket had been returned to her!

This generous gesture made Olivia cry, giving her number one fan the warmest hug. While she was happy to reunite with her iconic costume, she was most grateful for the amount the man bid to help her cancer center.

The man had one favor: that she would display the jacket in her cancer center. She was happy to do so.
