Dad brings tears during emotional dance routine with three daughters
A father’s relationship with his daughter is a special one. And to have this special relationship with three daughters is even more amazing.
Having a father in a daughter’s life highly influences her self-esteem, how she sees herself, her image, her confidence and how she’ll eventually view men.
“How Dad approaches life will serve as an example for his daughter to build off of in her own life, even if she chooses a different view of the world,” Michael Austin, editor of the book, Fatherhood — Philosophy for Everyone: The Dao of Daddy, explained.
This dad is blessed to have this opportunity to serve as an example three times with his three daughters.
And it’s such a blessing to be able to share this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform in a touching dance with all three of them.
At an Experimental Movements Concept concert, Russ performed a simple but moving ballet performance with his three daughters, Sophia (6), Brianna (12), and Sioned (20).
And it’s even more moving to dance to a song about daughters.
Steven Curtis Chapman wrote the song, “Cinderella,” about his daughters to remind him that each moment with his daughters is precious. The song reminds him he must appreciate each moment he had with his girls before they grow up.
Ironically, he wrote the song a few months before his five-year-old daughter died in an accident. He thought he would never sing the song again. In fact, he even thought about ending his singing career.
But he realized his daughter would want him to continue singing.
“I have to sing it because I have to continue,” Chapman said. “These chapters that are still being written with my two little girls, Shaohannah and Stevey Joy, and my older daughter Emily, who is getting ready to be married … I need to be dancing with my Cinderellas.”
And fathers and daughters, including Russ and his daughters, continue to be grateful to Steven Curtis Chapman for writing and singing this song.
Because of this song, they continue to appreciate the moments they have with their daughters.
“So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
‘Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don’t wanna miss even one song
‘Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she’ll be gone”
And the song’s lyrics are so evident in their father-daughter Cinderella dance.
The performance started with six-year-old Sophia, who entered the stage with a smile on her face.
She waited for her father to join her on stage and played with him as much as they could. Sophia kept twirling, spinning, jumping and waiting for her daddy to catch her.
Then Sophia exited the stage so the next generation could enter.
Her 12-year-old sister, Brianna, was eager to show off what she can do. And when her dad joined her, she couldn’t wait to impress him with her moves. Her whole performance showed how she’s grown up and how much she has evolved as a dancer and as a young lady.
Russ tried his best to keep his young daughter from growing up too fast by holding on to his little girl.
But he can’t stop his daughter from growing up.
And now, his daughter’s all grown up. Sioned is 20 and on the brink of adulthood. She wants to move forward but the uncertainty scares her.
She holds on to her dad to guide her once more before they let go of each other.
What a beautiful performance to symbolize the evolution of a father’s relationship with his daughter.
