Dogs, like us humans, are nosy by nature. But it’s a bit rubbish when you’re so short that you can’t even see what’s going on beyond your own yard.

Bogart the bulldog knows the frustration of being kept out of the loop. He and his bulldog mamma Winston are much too small to be able to peer over the top of their fence in their back garden in Gråsten, Denmark.

Luckily, Bogart’s human parents have made it easier for him and his mom to watch the world go by by cutting a few head-shaped holes in their fence that the pair can peer out of.

Obviously, a dog’s head sticking out of a fence is a pretty humorous sight as it is. But Bogart’s owners, Ranveig and Claus Levinsen, decided to paint hilarious illusions onto the fence surrounding the hole – a bit like those comical “head in hole” boards you find at the British seaside.

The result is a cause for laughter. Bogart and Winston look like a king and a jester when they poke their heads through the fence.

Quarantine entertainment was clearly running dry for the Levinsen family, and what better way to amuse both themselves and passers-by? Speaking to Bored Panda about her pups, Ranveig explained how she came about with not one, but two bulldogs. She said:

“He (Bogart) is a 4-year-old English Bulldog—we have his mother, Winston (she doesn’t care about the male name), and we decided that she should have puppies. […] She [had] 8, and we kept Bogart—he was the smallest and totally cute.”

Bogart’s face when he looks out of the fence hole is an absolute picture. He clearly has no idea that he’s been given his very own comical “body”, and that’s really what makes this stunt so hilarious.

Thousands of people agreed that the Levinsens had gone above and beyond in neighborhood entertainment, and the video was posted onto Danish news and media page 112nyheder, where it instantly went viral. It has since been shared more than 60,000 times. People can’t get enough of Bogart’s funny appearance!

In the video, you can hear people laughing as they record Bogart’s nonchalant expression. The poor thing has no idea he’s quite literally turned into a laughing stock.

So, what was it that inspired the Levinsens to paint the outfits onto their fence? Ranveig explained:

“We are living close to a walking path, so many people pass by every day, and the dogs are just so curious. To prevent them from skipping the fence, we made the holes, but even if it was funny to see them from the other side, I just thought it would look even [funnier] if we painted something.”

We certainly agree that this was an ingenious idea. With everyone cooped up in home for so many hours a day, being able to truly laugh at something while on a walk around your neighborhood is so important right now. We’d love for this trend to catch on – if everyone with curious dogs could do the same, we’d definitely appreciate it!

Unsurprisingly, Bogart has become a bit of a local celebrity in his Danish hometown. People are coming from all over the neighborhood to have a giggle and take a couple of photos. Ranveig never expected such a response. She said:

“I, myself, am blown away that my little dog has gone viral—just because he looks goofy.”
