Mom’s filling kiddie pool using a pot when firefighters notice and hit the brakes

Every mom has done something hard or inconvenient, just to make their kids a little happier – it’s just something that moms do! When it comes to birthday parties for your children, “making it work” is, unfortunately, what has to happen sometimes. For one mom in Charlotte, North Carolina, going the extra mile didn’t deter her from letting her kid have the best birthday ever.

Not too long ago, a mother in West Charlotte was filling up a small pool for her kids to swim in.

As anyone in the south knows, summers can get REALLY hot! What better way to cool off than a dip in the pool? For one mom, however, filling up the pool for her kid’s birthday party had turned into quite the task.

Since she didn’t have a hose, the resourceful mom had taken to using a kitchen pot to fill up the pool, one slow trip at a time.

Filling up the pot, going outside, dumping it, going inside. Repeat, over and over again, with what seemed like no progress. As her kids waited, the woman slowly dumped gallon after gallon of water into the small pool.

As if on queue, however, Fire Station 18 happened to be driving by and noticed the struggling mom.

Noticing the woman filling up the pool, the firefighters decided to help. If there was anyone in town who could move some water to where it was needed, it was going to be a group of firefighters! They hopped out and got to work.

Using a hose from the truck, the firefighters were able to fill up the entire pool in about as much time as it took for one “pot-to-pool” trip!

Even more, they changed the nozzle on their hose and decided to have a little fun with the family! As it “rained,” the kids ran around shrieking, clearly having some of the best birthday fun a kid could have.

Later posting about the event, Fire Station 18 said this.

“Firehouse 18 is a neighborhood firehouse full of men and woman who truly care about the families they swore to protect. Today, after leaving a medical call, Engine 18 stumbled across a family desperately trying to fill up a kiddy pool by filling pots from the sink for a little boys birthday on this sweltering day.”

Although it wasn’t a fire that needed to be put out, the men knew that their job was to help people that needed it. It just so happened to be a lighthearted call for help this time around!

The firemen, showing their Westside pride, said this.

“What was just a simple task for us turned into laughter, smiles, and a lifelong memory for the neighborhood kids as well as the men on Engine 18? Proud to serve the WESTSIDE!”

Now THAT’S what it means to help your community! Although the mom was clearly inventive, we can be sure that she appreciated a little more firepower when it came to filling up the pool.
