Mama dog gives birth under house so firefighters crawl underneath home to rescue newborn puppies
You’ve probably heard of firefighters saving cats stuck in trees (spoiler alert: they probably never needed rescuing), but what about all the helpless little puppies of the world that get stuck underneath houses?
No problem, firefighters are equal opportunity heroes – they will come to the rescue when there are puppies involved, too!
Tulsa, Oklahoma firefighters were more than happy to come to the aid of a distraught homeowner who discovered a mama doggy and her pups underneath her home.
Firefighters are like a Swiss army knife when it comes to all the different things they can do.
They’re multi-purpose and multi-talented in all the ways they can rescue people, places, and things.
Even though firefighters are trained to stay calm and collected in challenging situations, it can’t always be easy to shimmy down a dark hole and straight into a tight crawlspace.
It’s not specifically in their job title to rescue animals, but they do it anyways.
Because, yes, it really does feel THAT good!
When the Tulsa firefighters arrived on the scene, the mama doggy had already crawled out from the crawlspace and she was safe and sound.
Her precious little newborns, however, were still huddled together in the dank, dark underworld beneath the house.
Naturally, the homeowner grew concerned for their welfare since they were just too young to properly feed and take care of themselves.
The woman’s dog, Avery Daisy, gave birth to her litter of puppies underneath the house, probably because she thought it was a safe place that was out of harm’s way.
Unfortunately, mama left all seven of her puppies behind.
So this friendly firefighter crawled through the small opening to reunite them with their mother. He picked up the rascally little guys one by one and placed them into a bright green basket.
A basket of puppies, you say?
In some circles, this treasure trove could be considered the most irresistible force on the planet.
And seven of them snuggling together in one place? Now, that power may be too powerful for one person to control!
Here you go – a cuddle puddle of salt-and-pepper floofs to make you smile today.
Avery Daisy’s owner will be taking her to the vet to get spayed, so this will be her last basket of puppies.
A Facebook post by the Tulsa Fire Department indicated that “there will be puppy love going around until they are old enough to be given good homes.”
“The owner was beyond grateful,” Tulsa Fire continued. “Avery Daisy, the mother of the puppies, is happy that her babies are safe.”
And who knows, one of these puppies may even grow up to be a firefighting doggo one day.
It just goes to show that not all heroes run into burning buildings. Sometimes, they have to crawl their way to victory!
What do you think? Would you volunteer right away for the chance to save these sweet little furbabies?
