Five country girls raise the bar with their Alan Jackson line dance
There are two kinds of people in this world: country folk and city folk. And one of the best things about being a country lover is all the extra room for dancing!
Forget the dance studio. These five country girls have been using the great outdoors to practice their line dancing. They’ve put on their favorite hats and cowboy boots and have headed down to the lake to show off their skills.
Thays Monaro, Mitie Ishizaki, Ana Julia Fiori, Lais Gonçalves, and Mikaeli Dantas’s fun and flawless dance routine has gained over 17.5 million views!
Dancing to Alan Jackson‘s hit tune, âChattahoocheeâ, the girls do the cowboy shuffle, watermelon crawl, and other classic moves down by the lake. Can you think of anything more country than this?
Alan Jackson co-wrote this song with Jim McBride, a proud Alabama boy. The song is named after the Chattahoochee river which runs between Alabama and Georgia.
He was inspired by a poet named Sydney Lanier who also felt a strong connection to the Chattahoochee. Once he started humming a little melody while reading a book about the river, a song was born.
You must be wondering what this river looks like to inspire so many artists. But once you’ve seen it, it all makes sense. Just look at this beauty!
Just like most country songs, the lyrics are focused around memories. A man who returns to the river where he spent his youth.
âYeah way down yonder on the Chattahoochee,
Never knew how much that muddy water meant to me,
But I learned how to swim and I learned who I was,
A lot about livinâ and a little âbout loveâ
So in honor of that, these five women have chosen the perfect spot to perform!
But they’re not actually on the Chattahoochee River, in fact, they’re far from it.
They’re in Portugal! More than 4,000 miles away.
Believe it or not, Portugal has a pretty big American country music fan base. And these women are part of a dance team called “Comitiva Magia” which can be translated to ‘Magic Entourage’.
They’ve won awards and competitions all over the country, and have thousands of fans on their Facebook page.
Thays Morano, one of the members of the troop, is really committed to the country music lifestyle. She has more than 100k YouTube subscribers who keep up with her dance videos.
With big smiles, they move in time together to the country classic.
But they each get a solo moment, too.
One by one they take turns dancing in front of the camera while the others relax and have a chat in the background.
Line dancing is hard work!
But these ladies make it look easy and you can tell they really love it.
As the music fades out, they end with a black and white sequence of the women walking down to the water’s edge.
This performance is really making me miss the days when we were allowed to go outdoors!
Watch the video below for the entire lake-side, fun-loving performance.
Can you keep up with their slick dance moves?
