Six bands come together to perform sensational flash mob in Verona, Italy
The ‘flash mob’ has been a lovely trend lately, but this one might even top the list for the best flash mob of all time. Six bands in Italy gathered to perform a flash mob for the unsuspecting people in Verona, Italy, and it was absolutely sensational, to say the least.
The musical groups wanted to bring an homage to the “Peter Gunn” show, more specifically its well-known and catchy theme song.
The song, which holds the same name as the show, was composed by Henri Mancini back in 1959. Even though the show aired more than half a century ago, there are still plenty of loyal fans and the song has never lost its charm.
“The Peter Gunn title theme actually derives more from rock and roll than from jazz. I used guitar and piano in unison, playing what is known in music as an ostinato, which means obstinate. It was sustained throughout the piece, giving it a sinister effect, with some frightened saxophone sounds and some shouting brass. The piece has one chord throughout and a super-simple top line.” Mancini wrote in his 1989 autobiography.
The flash mob started with a rowing team inside of a dragon boat, and a man with a drum was one of the passengers.
When this musician started beating the drum, nobody expected that it would be the start of such an amazing spectacle that was truly stunning to see.
Everything was orchestrated perfectly, and all six groups worked in unison to deliver the best possible performance. In the video, we see a car cruising the streets, also a part of the act.
The drumming starts getting heavier and more intense as soon as the boat reaches the meeting point.
In the meantime, more and more musicians started popping up in different parts of Peschiera del Garda, Verona. It didn’t take long before individuals with tubas, trombones, trumpets and French horns were filling the streets of the beautiful town. They all agreed on a rendezvous point to deliver a jaw-dropping musical surprise.
The entertainment value is truly spectacular!
Suddenly, a police car and man in a dark suit and fedora manage to capture the attention of the public, and it’s all part of the act. With an incredibly awesome ‘putting on his sunglasses’ moment, the musicians started the final part of their brilliant routine.
What followed was absolutely epic, and we’re not even sure if the word does it any justice. The protagonist in the suit does a good job of directing the drummers and other musicians and the whole thing is as if you’re watching a high-budget movie.
A very cool effect is that the music gets louder and more intense as more and more musicians involved in the flashmob start showing up.
The co-ordination of so many people is definitely an impressive sight.
There’s an abundance of instruments, and both young and old were all welcome to perform in what was perhaps one of the coolest flashmobs ever. Everybody dropped what they were doing just to be able to take a look at it. Spectacular is one word that comes to mind.
Just imagine that you were a member of this unsuspecting crowd!
