That’s right, this dad loves his daughter so much that he decided to put up with airline food for Christmas dinner.

Most people get to spend their Christmases with family members. But an unlucky few of us have to work throughout this most special day.

It can be depressing to work on Christmas, but for some people, there is no other choice.

Pierce Vaughan is one of those people who sometimes have to work on Christmas Day.

She is a flight attendant who works for Delta Airlines.

Last Christmas, she learned that there was no getting out of a lengthy shift. But that year it was worse than ever. Not only was she working six flights on Christmas Day itself, but she was also doing the same amount on Christmas Eve.

So she prepared herself for a holiday without her family.

Luckily, her dad, Hal, worked out a way to spend Christmas with his daughter.

He went to the Delta site and purchased a ticket for every single flight that his daughter would be on on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Flying is expensive at the best of times, but at Christmas, it’s astronomical. Imagine how much Hal spent just so that he could be with his daughter!

So Christmas Eve came, and both Pierce and Hal went to the airport bright and early.

The two listened to Christmas songs on the radio on the way. Pierce was incredibly happy. Thanks to her dad, she was actually looking forward to work.

Hal sat down on the first flight, which was taking off from his hometown of Fort Meyers, Florida and landing in Detroit, Michigan. The passenger sitting next to Hal, Mike Levy, asked Hal why he was flying on Christmas. Mike couldn’t believe the father’s answer!

Mike took a picture with Hal and posted it onto Facebook, along with an explanation of how he was taking six flights that day and the next day, all for his daughter.

Hal’s story touched the hearts of many people online. Soon, Mike’s post of Hal’s story had gone viral.

To date, it has gained over 214,000 reactions and 42,000 shares. It also has hundreds of comments. People have been saying things like this:

Pierce and Hal landed in Detroit. By this time, the post had already gone viral. People at the airport were approaching the two of them, congratulating Hal for being such a great dad.

But Hal only said that his daughter was the amazing one and that she deserved all the praise for helping people over Christmas.

The next day, Christmas Day, Pierce and Hal did the same thing again. Only on that first flight, many of the people on board knew why Hal was flying, all thanks to Mike’s social media post.

The people were amazed. It was even better than sharing a flight with a famous celebrity!

By the end of the last flight on Christmas Day, both Pierce and Hal were exhausted. They went home to their family and relaxed over the next few days.

This is quite possibly the most unusual Christmas story ever told. But it’s also so full of heart. Pierce sure is lucky to have a dad that would spend so much money just on keeping her company. Hal really is a hero!
