Flight passenger flips her long hair over back of seat to dismay of person seated behind her

Whenever we fly on planes or just travel in general, we always hope, wish, and pray that we’re not surrounded by nightmare passengers.

Food blogger Julie B. Christensen found herself sitting behind a nightmare passenger.

She was on a flight from Athens to Amsterdam having a cup of coffee.

That’s when the woman in front of her, with extremely long hair, draped her hair over the back of her seat.

This essentially blocked Julie’s entire screen.

Plus the lady’s hair was so long, it almost reached Julie’s tray and coffee cup.

“I wish this was staged,” Julie wrote on her TikTok video.

Unfortunately, even before the pandemic, this bad plane etiquette has become a problem for travelers and flight attendants.

There are just some people who insist on doing their own thing, even at the inconvenience of other people.

And, unfortunately, in this day and age where social media is prevalent, they will almost always be captured in photos or videos and shared widely.

Julie said that, because their flight had already been delayed, she was already too tired to confront the woman and just let it be.

But she did pose a question.

‘Is this normal?’

Clearly, she thought the woman’s actions were strange.

Because Julie was sitting in the emergency row with lots of legroom, it didn’t bother her that much.

Julie also admitted that this was something she experienced a lot since she traveled a lot for her work as a food blogger. And this one has just become cute and funny.

Many followers suggested payback.

They thought Julie should take revenge on the lady, including dipping her hair in the coffee.

But Julie refused and said that it’s important to be nice to other people.

Etiquette expert Jacqueline Whitmore agreed with Julie.

“Anything can be handled if you say it kindly,” Jacqueline said. “I would say something like, ‘Excuse me, your beautiful hair is getting in my coffee.’ When you sound like you’re looking out for the other person’s best interest, it makes it not all about you.”

It does become a problem when our actions have the intention to irritate or agitate other people or when our actions are already affecting other people.

When that happens, it becomes something else.

A breach of etiquette.

There were some viewers who suggested that Julie close the tray on her hair or dip it in coffee or stick already-chewed gum on her hair.

Julie shot down all those suggestions.

Some viewers said this was worse than dealing with unruly children during a flight.

Flying with hundreds of different personalities is always a challenge.

You might be seated beside a quiet person or you might have to endure the flight with an armrest grabber, a snorer, a sleeper who keeps falling on your shoulder, or a talker (when you just want to read or sleep).
