Florist sells toilet paper bouquets as joke – then demand for them skyrockets
Humankind has its own unique way of responding to a pandemic. Perhaps nobody had even considered what they would do if a dangerous virus was to spread across the world – but we never could have predicted the reality: toilet roll hoarding.
Yes, our people have gone slightly crazy, but in spite of everything going on right now, we’ve still got to be able to deal with our bathroom issues the, er, American way.
We’ve reached a time that nobody could have predicted: a time of very little toilet roll. Supermarket shelves are empty, and it’s unclear when stocks of this essential bathroom feature will become plentiful once more. Toilet roll is being flogged on eBay for thousands of dollars, friends and neighbors are meeting under-cover to exchange their precious cargo, and entire songs are being created to document the debacle.
And to top it off, businesses are finding their own unique way to benefit from the toilet roll demand. One florist joined in on the fun, and decided to – wait for it – produce his own bouquets using none other than toilet paper. He never could have predicted how his little joke would take off…
David Faulkner, owner of Blossom Events and Florist, posted a picture of one of his creative bouquets on Facebook. But this wasn’t just any old hastily thrown together bunch of toilet paper.
Oh, no – David used his floristry expertise to put together a work of art. In fact, his toilet paper bouquet somehow resembled a dozen roses.
People saw the humour in David’s creation, but it wasn’t long before things got serious. People were in desperate need for toilet roll, after all. It didn’t matter that the bouquets cost $75. David was selling something that many people were without.
Before he knew it, David’s business had taken off like never before. He was sending toilet paper bouquets to mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and grandparents.
His business partner, Bart Faulkner, commented on their actions by simply saying, “It is going to affect our business one way or another, so we’re just trying to, right now, do like everybody and make the best of it.”
Good on David and Bart for finding a legitimate way to make business and give their customers a laugh during this crazy time.
It’s easy to see why they’re making business – who wouldn’t want to give their loved one a giggle with a surprise delivery of toilet paper?
And the best part for Blossom Events and Florist is that the popularity of their service means they won’t have to lay off any staff during this difficult time.
In a strange sort of way, this outpouring of interest for toilet paper is a great example of how people around the world are coming together to support their local businesses. Hopefully, when life goes back to normal, this support will continue.
We’re certain that once toilet paper is back in stock, this creative pair will have another clever bouquet idea up their sleeve. Let’s just hope they don’t run out of any toilet paper themselves any time soon!
