Person shares post for 'unwanted puppies' then rescuer finds entire family of abandoned dogs

Winnipeg Blue Bomber Brady Oliveira responded to an online post regarding unwanted puppies. He just knew he had to drive out and rescue the poor dogs.

He partnered with a Manitoba-based organization to try and help rescue the dogs, and many other dogs in the province.

Oliveira has joined forces with K9 Advocates Manitoba. It is a not-for-profit that was founded in 2015 by First Nations Nurse Jasmine Colucci and works to provide, “rural First Nation communities with assistance to manage the overpopulation of stray dogs.”

Oliveira documents some of the rescues he has been a part of. This one included.

A Facebook post called for someone to take the puppies. Oliveira found the unwanted pups in boxes, the mom standing next to him looking up at the man carrying her babies.

He only had two but the post said there was more.

As Oliveira and his friends made their way back to the car, they suddenly heard barking and crying. The group followed the cries for help, the mom leading them to where the rest of her pups were.

All the other pups were just really scared.

They scramble away, hiding underneath a cage or pressing themselves against the wall, not knowing that Oliveira and his friends were there to lift them out of their abandoned state.

One female pup gave him a good workout, running away and hiding in places difficult for a human to reach in.

But Oliveria is not one to give up. He crawls and eventually lifts the terrified pup out of her hiding spot. Oliveria carries the female pup, kissing her with the assurance that he wouldn’t hurt her.

Just look at those sad, puppy eyes.

With all the pups now in the vehicle, the mom included, Oliveria and his friends let the dogs settle in all warm and comfortable in the car. They’re already looking so much better!

The female pup stayed in his arms the entire trip home, and he wouldn’t stop cuddling and kissing the adorable pup.

Oliveria still got updates from their fosters, with the mom and her pups doing so much better. They’re now running around and looking chunkier since the rescue.

And yes, they all got adopted, the mom included.

The female pup was named Bagel since Oliveira says she looks like one!

Oliveira is a powerful and devoted animal activist. He goes on rescue runs with K9 Advocates on his free time when he’s not training or playing.

Rescuing animals is just a natural instinct for the Canadian pro-footballer. “The feeling you get from saving animals, especially the ones that are in rough shape or living in harsh environments is where I find joy in life.” he stated. “These wonderful animals have a life and a heart just like us so they deserve to live a wonderful life just like us.”

Let’s hope there are more influential people like Oliveira who’ll go out of their way to rescue our furry friends in need.
