Foster mom with 3 kids goes to Walmart then approaches cashier and tells him “I’m sorry”

Every parent has a difficult day. Whether we’re talking about a lot of stress or having a difficult time with children, there are days in which luck is simply not on your side.

Unfortunately, sometimes this situation can take place in the worst type of places.

This is exactly what happened to a foster mom at a Walmart in Newcastle, Oklahoma, while she was with a baby and two little girls.

Fortunately, she was lucky enough to pop into the checkout lane of cashier Nick Tate.

Basically, it all started once it was her turn to pay for the products she bought.

It happened the worst-case scenario: difficulties at paying and the little ones misbehaving. All of this with plenty of people waiting for her to be quick.

What’s even worse was that this whole situation took place on a Friday night, with customers wanting to get home as soon as possible.

Knowing that she was having a terrible moment, the 20-year-old Bible college student smiled at her and treated her in the best way possible. This wasn’t a surprise since he’s known for being a sweet and friendly cashier with all customers.

While this made her feel a little bit better, she was fearful that she was holding up the line.

In fact, the most uncomfortable moment came when she pulled out her WIC card since it was the first time she used it.

Even when he understood the situation and told her that she could take as much time as she needed, the line started to grow.

She then started to panic and told him that she was a foster parent and needed to use that card to pay for the baby formula.

Once he heard that, he ran her card on several opportunities. Things went downhill as the card wouldn’t work, leaving her in the worst-case scenario. In fact, some customers were already starting to ask her why she was taking so long.

Far from not knowing what to do, Tate behaved in the best way possible.

Basically, he first followed the proper protocols and even called the store manager for assistance. Then decided to intervene on his own.

Believe it or not, he decided to pay for her purchase. After all, he realized she was in desperation and the customers were starting to complain.

The Bible college student whipped out his credit card and paid for the woman’s $60 worth of groceries. She couldn’t believe what was happening. She started to cry and thanked him for being so kind.

A couple of days later, the foster mom shared her experience on her Facebook account.

She hoped anyone among her friends and family would know Tate so she could see him again and tell him how grateful she was.

Fortunately, a person who knew both of them showed the Bible college student her post and asked if the man she was referencing was him. Tate felt so surprised that he decided to reach out to the foster mom.

Once they met for the second time, she was able to thank him for his incredible act of kindness. What’s even greater is that the whole incident became so famous that media outlet KFOR covered the whole story.

“I have been able to get into contact with this young man… and thank him again as well as his mom and tell her how incredibly blessed we were by her son and thank her for raising such an exceptional young man. Additionally, multiple managers from Wal-Mart have contacted me regarding this issue to figure out who it was, wanting to help make it right and help however they can. As well as someone from WIC,” the foster mom told KFOR.

When the story became viral, one detail that gained attention was that Tate’s dream was to travel to Honduras and become a missionary.

Surprisingly, a lot of people started to make donations and his dream became real in a couple of weeks. In fact, one person even donated $10,000, which helped Tate to travel to the Central American nation and start his new journey in life.

“Someone donated $10,000 for me to go down there. Right now, I’m a youth and children’s pastor at a church, and I’m loving it. It is so much fun. Then, I play soccer every other night with locals just to dive into the community,” Tate told KFOR.
