Sweet fox walks right up and cuddles man sitting in a pub’s beer garden
Did you know that foxes belong to a dog family called Canidae, alongside wolves, jackals, and dogs?
However, don’t think about petting jackals or foxes recklessly; they probably won’t be as friendly as puppies. Then again, some encounters can be pretty surprising.
Gary Sines went to the Star Pub in Malden Rushett, London, to enjoy a beer, not knowing that the unexpected bonus will come with the beverage. A friendly fox came up to him and didn’t want to leave his side. Check out the lovely video Gary’s girlfriend took while he was busy stroking the fox who wouldn’t leave his side.
It seems like the fox knew precisely where to sit because Gary is known as an animal lover.
The 42-year-old builder from Chessington met with his partner, Lindsay Rolfe, on Friday evening in August 2019, and they went out for a beer. Of course, they sat in the beer garden of the Star Pub in London because it seemed like the best choice on a hot summer night.
Gary and Lindsay were speechless when a fox came up, and Lindsay later commented that her first reaction was:
“Oh my God, I’m literally going to cry.”
They were excited about the unlikely new friendship that was about to start.
Although Mr. Sines was worried about getting bit, he started to stroke the fox anyway.
Because Gary had never encountered a fox before, he wasn’t prepared for such an encounter.
He decided to stroke it on the head like he would any dog or cat. The fox loved it.
She came closer, and Gary knew that the copper beauty wouldn’t harm him. She wanted some love, and both Lindsay and Gary were more than happy to cuddle.
Interestingly, red foxes are adapted to suburban and rural communities.
The fox you see in the video is a red fox. According to the UK Fox Project the number of those beautiful animals in the United Kingdom had increased fourfold over the past two decades.
Believe it or not, people in England are used to often seeing foxes near their homes. Nevertheless, they rarely come so close to humans looking for some interaction.
To make the friendship official, the couple named the fox Georgie, and they even joked about taking it home.
“I’m known as a massive dog lover,” says Gary, adding that “his children wouldn’t mind the fox pet at all.” Something tells us that Georgie wouldn’t mind it either. Judging by how comfortable the fox is in Gary’s lap, we can only assume that Georgie would adapt to their home in no time. We love how happy Georgie is; he feels at home by Gary’s side.
Sines also explained that people in the UK often leave food outside for foxes so that they don’t have to look for it in the trash. Did you know that foxes have a lot in common with cats? Both species have vertically oriented pupils, sensitive whiskers, and spines on their tongues. Foxes and cats also hunt in the same manner.
Moreover, some foxes even sleep in the trees, just like cats. Isn’t it fascinating?
Can you domesticate a fox?
Yes. Some foxes can be trained to be excellent pets, but there are some important things you need to take into consideration before adopting a fox.
Most foxes are super energetic, mark the territory with urine, and need an exceptionally dedicated owner.
You can train a fox to use the litter box but prepare for possible damage to carpets and furniture.
Foxes love to dig, and they’ll likely destroy all your potted plants. So, what do you think? We know that the video made you fall in love with the idea of having a fox pet.
