Furious 5-year-old is a firecracker on the dance floor when “Maniac” starts to play
Donât you just love it when children step outside their comfort zone and shine at something youâve never even expected them to do? Here is an example: pick a song for a little girlâs dance choreography at her schoolâs competition?!
No, weâre not going with âDancing Queenâ, nor Jojo Siwaâs âBoomerangâ, for example. âWannabeâ choreo could turn out nice, but no. Remember the 1983 romantic drama âFlashdanceâ? Thatâll do.
The outfit is a very good hint
As the video begins, a petite Roxy Brennan is revealed, and sheâs in the middle of a huge stage.
Itâs the 2019 Baltimore Kids Artistic Revue Dance Competition. Roxy is just 5-year-old kiddo, whoâs discovered a great passion for dancing at such a young age.
A short top and some black warmers give it out that Roxy is about to do something bold, different, and unexpected.
If the whole picture reminded you of a âFlashdanceâ final scene, where Alex comes to her audition, and blows everyone away â youâve guessed it quite well. The movie was a great box-office success, and Michael Sembelloâs âManiacâ was nominated for an Academy Award. The song was later used on numerous dance events.
A âlittle adorable maniacâ on the floor
Roxy takes her dancing very seriously. The determinations on her face, a full-focus mode, an excellent dance routine â the girl has come to win. With some sharp, precise moves, and some impressive jumps, Roxy has us all convinced that sheâs been practicing for this a lot.
Sheâs on point, her timing is amazing, and the little lady simply feels the music sheâs dancing to. Despite being so small, irresistibly cute, goldilocks, Roxy manages to remind us of a âFlashdanceâ main protagonist. Both girls are maniacs on the floor.
Jesse Beaudoin did the choreography
We are aware that Roxy was probably advised about the song and the whole idea, but the creativity is what matters. It doesnât matter who picked out the soundtrack, what matters is that little Roxy enjoys it. She figured out the whole point of the phrase âmaniac on the floorâ, and sheâs picturing it for us. Mr. Beaudoin, who studied dance and musical theatre, turned out to be a great match for the little girl, and the outcome left us in awe.
Jesse is currently a resident choreographer for C&C Dance Company, Calvert School of Dance, and Platinum National Dance. The effort heâs showing with the little ones is truly heartwarming.
Little Miss Brennan has shown an interesting versatility so far
Itâs not Roxyâs first competition, and definitely not the last. Sheâs been encouraged to experiment with her choreographies since she was 3-years-old.
From dancing as a Wonder Woman while âI Need A Heroâ is on, to a jazzy âHit Me With A Hot Noteâ act. Her Instagram account is managed by her mom, and 11.6k fans have been following Roxy on her journey to a KAR Petite Miss Dance America title. Congratulations to proud parents.
Close to 4 million YouTube views
We havenât told you the best information yet: Roxyâs âManiacâ act won the first place, and itâs well deserved. The girl is an inspiration to all of us â itâs never too early, nor too late to pursue your dreams.
Try to be the best at what you love, and have fun while doing so. The joy and fun are written all over Roxyâs face, and weâre happy to see children involved in activities like this.
Her dancing will surely help with further development, and it doesnât hurt to have a little responsibility. Keep up the good work Roxy! Only the sky is the limit for you.
