Furious 5-year-old is a firecracker on the dance floor when “Maniac” starts to play

Don’t you just love it when children step outside their comfort zone and shine at something you’ve never even expected them to do? Here is an example: pick a song for a little girl’s dance choreography at her school’s competition?!

No, we’re not going with “Dancing Queen”, nor Jojo Siwa’s “Boomerang”, for example. “Wannabe” choreo could turn out nice, but no. Remember the 1983 romantic drama “Flashdance”? That’ll do.

The outfit is a very good hint

As the video begins, a petite Roxy Brennan is revealed, and she’s in the middle of a huge stage.

It’s the 2019 Baltimore Kids Artistic Revue Dance Competition. Roxy is just 5-year-old kiddo, who’s discovered a great passion for dancing at such a young age.

A short top and some black warmers give it out that Roxy is about to do something bold, different, and unexpected.

If the whole picture reminded you of a “Flashdance” final scene, where Alex comes to her audition, and blows everyone away – you’ve guessed it quite well. The movie was a great box-office success, and Michael Sembello’s “Maniac” was nominated for an Academy Award. The song was later used on numerous dance events.

A “little adorable maniac” on the floor

Roxy takes her dancing very seriously. The determinations on her face, a full-focus mode, an excellent dance routine – the girl has come to win. With some sharp, precise moves, and some impressive jumps, Roxy has us all convinced that she’s been practicing for this a lot.

She’s on point, her timing is amazing, and the little lady simply feels the music she’s dancing to. Despite being so small, irresistibly cute, goldilocks, Roxy manages to remind us of a “Flashdance” main protagonist. Both girls are maniacs on the floor.

Jesse Beaudoin did the choreography

We are aware that Roxy was probably advised about the song and the whole idea, but the creativity is what matters. It doesn’t matter who picked out the soundtrack, what matters is that little Roxy enjoys it. She figured out the whole point of the phrase “maniac on the floor”, and she’s picturing it for us. Mr. Beaudoin, who studied dance and musical theatre, turned out to be a great match for the little girl, and the outcome left us in awe.

Jesse is currently a resident choreographer for C&C Dance Company, Calvert School of Dance, and Platinum National Dance. The effort he’s showing with the little ones is truly heartwarming.

Little Miss Brennan has shown an interesting versatility so far

It’s not Roxy’s first competition, and definitely not the last. She’s been encouraged to experiment with her choreographies since she was 3-years-old.

From dancing as a Wonder Woman while “I Need A Hero” is on, to a jazzy “Hit Me With A Hot Note” act. Her Instagram account is managed by her mom, and 11.6k fans have been following Roxy on her journey to a KAR Petite Miss Dance America title. Congratulations to proud parents.
