Do you think you’d be brave enough to intervene if you saw someone in danger?

We’d all like to believe we would.

When a gas station employee acted to stop a kidnapping, he revealed his bravery.

He wasn’t sure if interfering would jeopardize his own life or make matters worse, but he couldn’t just stand by and watch it happen right in front of him.

Manveer Komer, 25, works late nights at his neighborhood gas station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He witnesses strange things all the time, but when a man and a woman walked into his store one night, he knew something wasn’t right.

Manveer noticed the woman was trembling.

Then, when the man used her credit card to buy cigarettes, he realized she was not with him of her own volition.

When the man attempted to flee with the woman, Manveer intervened to protect her and inform the man that something was wrong.

“You come [stand] behind my back. I’ll help you. No problem,” he said to the woman.

By doing so, he signaled to the woman that he would assist in her protection.

He had no idea what was going on or what their relationship was, but he could tell he had done the right thing by how they both acted.

Manveer even asked the man to return her car keys and credit card, but he refused.

For a few moments, Manveer worried that the man would attack him.

But instead, he fled in the woman’s car.

Because the car happened to have her cell phone inside, the police were able to track it down and locate the man shortly after Manveer called them.

It was later revealed that the man had kidnapped the woman.

He had carjacked her earlier in the day, and she is a doctor.

He was driving her around to different ATMs and stores, attempting to get her to withdraw as much money as possible.

The woman was terrified, and who knows what the man had in store for her after she had withdrawn all of her money or reached her withdrawal limits.

The woman was frightened and refused to tell anyone she needed help.

The man most likely threatened her.

Manveer’s quick thinking and bravery saved her life. Much of the interaction was recorded on security tapes at the gas station. They also show Manveer’s fearlessness.

Even after he had left, the man assisted the woman in calling the police and offered her a bottle of water.

She was visibly shaken and having difficulty dialing.

It’s difficult to say what would have happened if Manveer hadn’t been there to help the woman. And also he had been too afraid to act when he sensed something wasn’t right.

This story serves as a good reminder to always be aware of your surroundings and to keep an eye out for others.

However, if “stepping in” isn’t an option, calling the cops could help save a stranger’s life.
