Gay couple adopts dog after hearing that he was abandoned for being 'gay'
There are pet owners who, sad to say, really shouldn’t be owners of animals. Some are plain irresponsible while others just abandon their fur babies for the strangest and most selfish reasons.
Meet Fezco, for this dog is a perfect example.
Fezco was dumped at the shelter.
The dogās owners claimed they saw the dog humping another male dog, therefore saying he must be gay.
According to the ASPCA, and you have to read this, āMounting, thrusting (humping) and masturbation are normal behaviors exhibited by most dogs,ā and that itās normal for dogs to mount other animals, people, or even inanimate objects.
Dogs have several reasons to hump or masturbate. They can be stressed, excited, playful, or even compulsive. Exhibiting such behavior has nothing to do with āsexual orientationā or gender identity.
But the poor dog was still abandoned for such reasons.
Fezcoās behavior was completely normal and healthy but his owners said they didnāt want him anymore. So they left him there.
The Stanly County Animal Protective Services in Albemarle, North Carolina took the poor dog in. Fezcoās story went viral on Facebook, and people soon began to react to the dog’s situation.
Fezco didn’t deserve any of it.
With the dog’s story going viral, it didn’t take long for the shelter to share the good news that Fezco had been adopted.
The animal shelter wrote on Facebook: āWe would like to give a special thank you to Greater Charlotte SPCA for taking Fezco into their rescue! Thankfully, they had a previous adopter step up, and Fezco has been ADOPTED!!! Thank you GCSPCA for making this possible!ā
Fezco was adopted by Steve Nichols and his partner John.
Steve and John know all too well what it’s like to be discriminated against. They empathized with Fezco fully understanding what the poor dog was going through.
They didn’t have it easy either.
Steve said, āWeāve been subject to that kind of bigotry and ignorance throughout our lives together, and we couldnāt always do anything about it. We looked at each other and said, we can do something about this.ā
He went on to say that both he and John spoke and that it would āmake senseā for the āgay dogā to be adopted by a āloving gay family.ā
Fezco humping another male dog is normal, the dog just being a dog, and had nothing to do with sexual orientation.
Steve and John really were very selfless and sweet to take the dog in.
The couple renamed Fezco to Oscar after the famous gay poet, Oscar Wilde. From being abandoned for such a ridiculous reason, to finding another loving home, Fezco’s story is a reminder to pet owners.
Sometimes, a little research goes a long way.
And dogs do have feelings. Those sweet faces and bushy tails tell you all you need to know. Fezco being abandoned at the shelter and being adopted by Steve and John may have been destined.
