It’s called a shower curtain, because it curtains the shower. But really, as you’ll soon find out, they should be called everything curtains.

There’s nothing wrong with upcycling your shower curtain when you want to buy a new one. And if you want to repurpose your shower curtain, well here are some top-notch ideas:

1. Turn it into a film screen

You know how at the movies they project the movie on a white screen? Well, you can do that with a white shower curtain. Obviously, you need to have a projector to do this! But if you do have one, then you just made movie night even better, thanks to your shower curtain screen! It makes the images look better than just projecting them onto a wall, that’s for sure.

2. Turn them into placemats

Measure out the size of the placemats by placing an existing place mat on top of the shower curtain. Then cut around the place mat. Then hot glue and fold the edges underneath the cut outs. You should be able to get at least four place mats this way. These are great for barbecues and other kinds of outdoor dining!

3. Turn them into French door curtains

You can do this by placing four command hooks on top of your French doors, two for each door. And then put the shower curtains in tension rods, and place the tension rods on top of the command hooks. You can also use a curtain rod above the door.

4. Cover an open doorway

Just get a tension rod. Put the shower curtain in the tension rod, and then push the tension rod against the doorway.

5. Turn it into pillowcases

Fold the shower curtain in on itself. Measure out the insert of your pillow, and cut the folded curtain just a few inches larger than the insert and cut this out. Glue or sew up the sides of the curtain until only one side is still open. Then get some velcro fasteners, cut the fasteners so that they fit the pillowcase, secure them to the pillowcase.

And here’s another tip. If you have any old jeans that you no longer use that still have good back pockets, then why not cut these pockets from the jeans and glue gun them onto your pillows? You can also turn the ends of the legs of the jeans into pillow pockets this way.

6. Turn the curtain into a tablecloth

This one is super easy. Just throw the curtain over the table. But you might want to cut away the part that lets you hook the curtain onto the shower and glue/sew the cut part of the curtain so that it looks a little neater.

7. Turn it into art

Get a photo frame, cut a part of the curtain to the size of the frame, and place this into the frame. You could also use this as a whiteboard!
