3-month old German shepherd abandoned at shelter cries as family leaves her

Animals, like humans, need love, food, and shelter.

When one dog returned home with her family, she thought she’d found all of those things and more. However, this did not prove to be the case.

Sidney, the family’s dog, was abandoned when she was only three months old.

Sidney was taken from a loving home to a freezing kennel at Carson Animal Shelter in California. She couldn’t figure out what she’d done wrong and she burst into tears when she realized she’d lost her home.

The most heartbreaking aspect of this story is that the family had no specific reason for giving up the dog.

They just didn’t want her any longer. Some people have no sense of obligation to others.

Sidney is currently housed at a kill shelter because her family failed to find her an adoptive home.

She faces a harsh fate — unless she can find a loving family to adopt her.

Sidney is a sweet dog with a calm demeanor and a good temperament.

Nobody understands how these people could have given her away.

Unfortunately, this type of thing happens far too frequently.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or ASPCA estimates that “approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year.”

That is a staggering figure!

There is, however, hope.

According to the ASPCA, around 3.2 million of these pets are adopted each year. Almost half of the pets who are placed in these shelters are saved by the kind hearts of caring pet owners.

These statistics demonstrate that when it comes to assisting homeless animals, every act of kindness counts.

Thankfully, Sidney’s story has a happy ending.

Sidney was adopted about a week after arriving at the shelter. Sidney’s plight was brought to light by a rescue group called Saving Carson Shelter Dogs, which shared a video of her.

This rescue group does an incredible job of finding homes for the shelter’s at-risk dogs.

Fortunately, they were able to find the ideal location for Sidney. While it is heartbreaking that Sidney lost her first home, we are grateful that she has found a new forever home.
