Sweetest German Shepherd dog goes out of his way to take care of his favorite baby girl

Ryan Symes’ thought that his dog was hopeless.

Loki, a German shepherd dog, grew up doing things that he wanted to do. Some of these antics are manageable, but his other stunts can leave Symes scratching his head.

“He very much grew up kind of doing whatever he wanted,” Symes told the animal content channel, The Dodo, “I always found it quite endearing so that probably made me not the best trainer.”

Even as a full-sized dog, he acted like a puppy.

He would jump on and stand up on the top of the table, acting like it’s a spot to play on.

He likes tearing pieces of paper apart, from loose receipts to wrappers of any kind. Wherever he wants to hang out, he does, and you can’t do anything about it.

“I don’t know if he’s just a naughty dog that is too intelligent for his own good,” he shared with The Dodo. “And he understands authority and he just doesn’t like it. But I would say he’s mischievous more than anything.”

But all that was about to change as a new member of the family came along.

As Symes shared, in the three years that they owned Loki, he never lost his puppy nature. He’s always out and about, always up to no good, and always leaving something to clean in his wake.

But when his parents came home with Tallulah, Loki found himself fulfilling a different role.

His “puppy days” are over.

Now, he gets to play the big brother role. And being a big brother is a role he took seriously.

What Symes considered as a “mischievous dog who’s far too intelligent for his own good” became a loving and responsible companion.

His playful nature was still there, but now, he embraced the chance to express his caring side.

Tallulah might be their first kid, but she didn’t experience growing up alone.

On her side and on her tail is Loki.

He sits around to guard his little sister, even enjoying when he’s on the receiving end of her hugs and gestures of affection.

They might be different but that never stopped them from becoming best friends.

They quickly formed habits around each other.

As Symes shared, you can see Loki and Tallulah sitting in the corner of the room playing their own games. Sometimes, you can even see them sitting under the table.

It looked like Loki has finally met his match and we could feel that he has no complaints about it. Even more so for Tallulah because all she wants is to hang out with her big brother.

Symes is glad they’re getting along so splendidly.

“Because Loki is so kind of loving, rather than being jealous, he was very much wanting to see who this new family member he could share some of the love with was.” He shared with The Dodo.

And that’s the kind of energy he’ll need for the next part of the journey.

Because just as he and Tallulah are coming together quite well, a new member of the family joined them.

Being mischievous doesn’t always mean being ill-mannered. Sometimes, they just have so much love to give that all you need to do is give them the opportunity to share that.
