The internet is filled with tons of cute dog videos and that’s not surprising at all. Dogs are charming and they can easily ease stress and reduce anxiety.

One particular video of a dog is going viral on the internet.

It’s a video of a German Shepherd looking after a couple of baby ducks in a pool. The idea may seem boring but wait until you get to watch it.

Like the millions of people who’ve seen the dog’s footage, you’ll be charmed too!

In the video, you’ll see Rocky the German Shepherd looking at a small pool filled with water. Swimming on it were tiny ducks.

The ducklings were having the best time of their lives in the water. However, their mood changed as soon as they noticed Rocky curiously staring at them.

Their reaction isn’t surprising. After all, Rocky looks different. Plus, he’s big!

The ducklings felt the need to retreat together on one side.

It’s their instinct to protect themselves. They feel vulnerable and that’s the only thing they could do.

However, Rocky considered the ducks’ behavior as an invitation to play.

He started running around the pool in an attempt to get close to the ducks. Unfortunately, they were so fast for him. Each time he tried to touch them with his nose, they’d swim away fast.

Rocky was so determined to get close to the ducks.

He even tried dipping his paw into the water. However, for some reason, he figured that it was not the best thing to do. He gave up chasing the ducklings in the water and just continued looking at them.

Over 1.6 million people have watched Rocky’s reaction to the ducklings.

Most of them have good things to say to the German Shepherd and his friends. One particular YouTube user commented:

“Hahaha 😆😄poor boy! He gets crazy about the diving of the one duckling? Did you noticed? Every time he ran “after” the diving duckling. He is a very good protective big brother 🥰and sooo handsome 😏”

Another one said:

“Rocky is such a handsome boy 🐶Regal & strong but sweet as can be He looks like a monster to those baby ducks but he just wants to play Poor Rocky was like why do you guys keep wadding to the other side! Knock it off ducklings🐥”

There was also this person who shared:

“That is why the German shepherd is one of my favorite breeds. I think Rocky thinks he fathered those cute babies. Thanks for looking after them and sharing your video!”

The video just proves that German Shepherds are gentle giants. They may be big but they have a huge heart as well. They like protecting others regardless of whether they’re humans or tiny ducklings. They just love being the protector.

However, although the video is a positive one, people who own dogs shouldn’t consider it as an invitation to leave their pets unsupervised when interacting with other animals for the first time. Rocky has been trained by his owners.
