German shepherd mix enters burning house 5 times to save every single one of her pups

A fire is something that nobody ever hopes for or expects, but when one fire broke out in Santa Rosa de Temuco, Chile, a furry heroine made the news for her feat of rescue.

This is Amanda, a German Shepherd mix.

Amanda had recently become a mom, and the fire broke out right where she was raising her puppies. Definitely not a situation anyone wants to be a part of, but Amanda got to acting real quick.

Firefighters showed up to combat the housefire, all while this dedicated mother dog was scrambling to rescue all her puppies.

As the flames raged, Amanda ran through it all to save them one by one. After all, a mama can only fit one puppy in her mouth at a time. Amanda had to make a separate run back for every puppy, and there were 5 of them.

All the fur on a dog’s body turns them into a walking fire hazard. Fur is very flammable, but that goes without saying.

Every other time she goes back into the burning building to grab one of the pups, she’s risking catching on fire herself.

But mama’s love is way stronger than even the hottest fire, and Amanda pushes all her mama instincts to the limit. She gets one puppy out, then another, and another. Until she got all 5 out of the fire.

Amanda truly shows just how dedicated some mama dogs can be, and her little rescue mission was a wholesome sight amidst such a terrible event.

Her puppies were no older than 10 days too. Extra small, extra helpless.

Amanda had her efforts cut out for her. Puppies these young aren’t going to run to safety by themselves.

You can see in the photos just how Amanda looked after the whole scene. Her fur was dry, messy, and covered in ash. The safe place she brought her pups to was a fire engine. She placed them one by one on its steps.

The photos spoke a thousand words.

There’s no other way to put it: Amanda’s story was one of motherly love.

As small a dog as she may be, the fire and flames weren’t enough to deter her from coming for her pups.

Sadly, one of the puppies didn’t make it. Amparo, one of the female puppies, suffered burns too severe to survive. But thanks to her mom, her four siblings made it. I’m sure Amanda was sad to lose one of her puppies to this tragedy, but there’s only so much a dog can do.

The surviving pups, plus their mom, were taken to a vet for a checkup. They’re all shaken, but fine now!
