German shepherd playing in the snow stumbles upon coyote and they quickly become friends

Not just humans have best friends!

We have all seen some incredible videos of animals being friends with each other, sometimes even with other species! There have been some incredible stories of bears and lions getting along, and even a tiger and a goat!

Of all the animals, dogs seem to be the most able to get along with anyone.

Dogs really are a friend to all (except maybe cats!). Rocky is a German Shepherd who recently made a friend that most people would never expect! Funny enough, this friend is probably a long-lost relative to Rocky since he is a coyote!

Rocky’s best friend isn’t another dog, or a different human (other than his family), it’s a real, wild, coyote!

The two met a few years ago and they hang out all the time! It’s a truly incredible scene that you probably wouldn’t believe if it wasn’t for the video footage of it that we have.

You can see just how much fun Rocky has in the video.

Uploaded by Mark Lagace, you can easily see the joy that Rocky has playing with his buddy. He runs around and frolics in the snow like a puppy, right alongside his canine friend.

Despite how cold it is, they are kept warm with their thick fur.

You remember that feeling of playing so hard that you didn’t realize how cold you were? That’s what it looks like these two are in the midst of! They are having so much fun playing that it could be – 10 out and they would still be having a blast.

Despite their visual differences, they aren’t all that different genetically.

All dog breeds, as well as coyotes, are in the canine family! That makes them sort of cousins and able to understand each other somewhat. A dog and a coyote meeting is like a family reunion with a crazy uncle you didn’t know existed!

Coyotes operate around dusk and dawn, rarely coming out during broad daylight.

Dogs, on the other hand, LOVE to play pretty much any time. Since dogs aren’t semi-nocturnal like coyotes are, they don’t always interact with each other naturally. When it does happen, however, the results are interesting!

Rocky and his coyote friends are definitely a special scenario.

We wouldn’t normally recommend allowing dogs and coyotes to play together, but Rocky has obviously been friends with the coyote for a few years now. Coyotes aren’t really known for being friendly, so it’s pretty incredible that the two get along like they do in the video!

You can tell that they aren’t even that wary of each other.

Usually, wild animals are very wary of dogs (or anything, for that matter).

It’s clear that this isn’t the case with Rocky and the Coyote, however. They both are totally comfortable snuggling and playing without any fear at all! Who knows, maybe Rocky will make friends with a moose one day and have the strangest friend group and dog has ever seen!
