Dogs are notorious for having incredible noses – and it looks like we still haven’t seen everything those sniffers can do. As if detecting tumors and landmines wasn’t impressive enough!

Expecting couple Nathan Ryles and Tori Stevens showed just how good a German Shepherd’s sense of smell can be. Nathan, who you may have seen on Australian Ninja Warrior, shared the puppy’s little display of its nose power on TikTok.

People viewed the video nearly 30 million times since Nathan posted it.

Rolly the German Shepherd was given the honor of guessing the baby’s gender.

Tori held up two balloons, one pink and one blue. The plan was to let Rollo pop the one he thinks is the baby’s gender.

So Tori held them and let Rollo do his thing. The playful German Shepherd, who was still a puppy at the time, chose the blue balloon without hesitation.

Let’s see if he guessed right!

Next, the scene cuts to the actual gender reveal.

Nathan and Tori held up the balloon with the answer inside. They had friends and family watching, and Tori cradled Rollo like a baby himself.

They pop the reveal balloon and BOOM!

Blue confetti everywhere. It’s a boy!

Rollo was right on the mark.

Either he somehow peeked at the answer or has a remarkable nose.

That, or he just got lucky. We may never know.

The German Shepherd has since grown up quite a bit but is still their one and only Rollo. He’s definitely large enough to protect Nathan, Tori, and his baby brother should anyone try and lay a finger on them.

And being a German Shepherd, I bet he’d be happy to do it too.

Tori filmed another clip featuring Rollo.

She asks Nathan if their baby boy could have another sibling soon. Nathan dribbles a basketball and throws it over his back, hoping it goes in the net while he faces Tori. Once Tori finishes the question, Nathan gives an adamant “No, no, no”, right as the ball miraculously makes the shot in the back.

While Rollo was here the whole time, he doesn’t seem to understand what a superbly impressive thing his dad just pulled off. Tori herself can’t contain her reaction.

And just in case there was any doubt as to how smart Rollo is, Tori uploaded proof of the Shepherd’s braininess.

She played a game of “Which cup has the ball?” with him. After mixing up the cups with Rollo watching, she lets him guess which one has it.

Rollo immediately picks the right cup, and without any hesitation either!

It’s impressive if Rollo truly was using memory to guess where the ball was. If instead he just used his all-powerful nose to smell the rubber ball through the cup, then that’s still impressive!

What a good dog.
