German shepherd sees dolphins playing and decides to join in on the fun

Dogs. They’re smart, loyal, and friends until the end. The minute you decide to adopt one, your life changes for the better. Sure, there’s a lot of work to be done: grooming, training, regularly feeding them, and making sure they get enough exercise, You’ll have to really commit to it. The results are always satisfying and endearing, though.

More than their ability to be dependable assistants in different fields or gentle, loving pets for families, dogs also make wonderful companions throughout their lives because of the way they bring so much laughter into our days.

One popular breed known for its impressive qualities, charm, and playful side is the German Shepherd Dog. Like most breeds, German Shepherd Dogs are curious and can never resist playtime.

And contrary to their reputation as stellar guard dogs, they can be quite friendly, too!

Take Maverick, an adorable German Shepherd dog who was overjoyed at the sight of seeing a pod of dolphins up close.

We humans are pretty familiar with marine life. We obtain information from books, documentaries, and online articles. We have the resources to travel and actually have close encounters with these animals.

Dogs, on the other hand, are different.

They’re like curious toddlers who can’t get enough of each new sight this great big world has to offer them.

To give you an idea of just how adorably clueless dogs can be, take a look at Maverick’s reaction when he saw the dolphins. Maverick was on a fishing boat with his human dad when the dolphins appeared. Delighted at the strange yet fascinating sight, Maverick reacted immediately to the magnificent creatures swimming about.

The excited dog couldn’t seem to contain himself.

His face would light up everytime a dolphin bobbed on the surface. Not only that, he would even sort of tense up as if trying to fight off the urge to actually reach out and touch the dolphins.

Well, the urge was just too strong and the curious dog couldn’t contain it any longer.

The German Shepherd jumped right into the ocean!

He was probably imagining how much fun it would be to swim gracefully alongside the dolphins; he didn’t consider just how deep the ocean is and how different swimming is for dogs and dolphins.

Immediately regretting his decision, Maverick frantically tried to swim back to the moving boat.

He must have felt so many things at once: panic at having to tread strange, deep waters, fear that his human parent would head off without him, discomfort from the sensation of large waves and cold water.

Like any parent allowing their child to experience things firsthand and grasp the concept of consequences, Maverick’s dad and his companion couldn’t help but laugh as they stopped the boat to wait for the dog to catch up.

Relieved at the sight of his human best friend waiting, Maverick swam back to the boat and waited for his companions to pull him up.

The two men couldn’t stop chuckling but Maverick didn’t seem to mind. All he knew was he was safe and sound despite what he did.
