The story behind a German shepherd, ‘the world’s richest dog,’ selling Madonna’s former mansion
Gunther is no ordinary German Shepherd. He’s an upper-class-born dog from a long lineage. Heck, he isn’t even the first of his lineage named “Gunther”.
This German Shepherd is richer than most people.
Funnily enough, I don’t think he even knows or cares. Still, I’m sure it’s nice to have all the money he can spend on treats, toys, and everything a dog could want.
Now, he’s making headlines for one thing.
Gunther is allegedly selling a mansion in Miami that used to belong to Madonna.
Yes, you read that right. Let’s lay down the context so none of us get confused. It all started with Gunther’s ancestor, Gunther III. As the name implies, there were two other Gunthers before him. Though the bit about inheritance starts with Gunther III.
The Gunther bloodline’s massive wealth came from Gunther III’s owner, German countess Karlotta Liebenstein.
She passed away in 1992 and left a sizable inheritance for her German Shepherd. It was worth several million dollars.
A dog having several million dollars in funds is pretty crazy. I’m sure most of us didn’t even it was legally possible.
Whatever the case, that money was passed on to Gunther III’s son, Gunther IV.
His owners used it to buy an expensive Miami mansion.
Costing 7.5 million dollars at the time, they purchased Madonna’s former mansion.
It’s pretty crazy to think that this dog is the proud owner of a house that none of us can ever afford. Maybe we should be the ones asking to be adopted this time?
This was roughly two whole decades ago.
Now, Gunther VI is selling the home for a little over 31 million dollars.
And he sure lives like it. Every dog from the Gunther bloodline lives life lavishly They travel by private jet to Milan and the Bahamas. His diet consists of steaks cooked by his own personal chef. Like I said, lavish and extravagant.
As much as I think all dogs are good boys, I really hope Gunther is paying his taxes.
When he goes to sleep, he has a fancy velvet bed to keep him comfy. Oh, and his breakfast is fresh rice, veggies, and meat as well. Never thought I’d be jealous of a dog, but here we are.
As mentioned, you can have Gunther VI’s old home if you have 31.75 million dollars sitting around.
Now, if all of this sounds like one big joke, that’s because it is.
I won’t lie, they had me fooled too. The tale of Gunther VI and his notorious wealth is nothing but a publicity stunt by an Italian pharmaceutical company. Its head, Maurizio Mian, was behind it all.
The dog’s role is just to give people a funny story to hear. That, and to fool gullible reporters and journalists. Can’t say it didn’t work – especially given the recent coverage of the story by many mainstream outlets.
