Smart German shepherd joins veteran on shopping trips and helps grab all the food

Is your dog really well-trained if they can’t do groceries?

Having a dog who can obey basic commands like sit, stay, and follow is one thing. Having a dog who can follow “Get me a loaf of bread and a bottle of water” is another.

If you think dogs like these don’t exist, then you’ll be glad to know that they’re out there and they’re helping people in need. Get ready to be impressed because this is dog training on a whole different level.

A TikTok video showed a dog’s incredible ability to follow instructions.

The viral clip posted by TikTok user @official_call_me_blue catapulted C.C., a German shepherd service dog into popularity.

The clip shows the perspective of someone in the grocery store. Aisles of food in different packaging can be confusing to some but not to C.C.

Her owner, Matthew Sutherland, a veteran can be heard describing a product that he needs. It’s a breakfast blend coffee that comes in yellow packaging.

If your dog has “sit” under his tricks, C.C. has “get me coffee” under hers.

A few seconds into the video you can see grocery patrons looking over their shoulders in astonishment. With on Sutherland’s command, people around him thought that it would give a hilarious result at best.

Eventually, the dog emerges with a yellow box of coffee in her mouth. Impressed patrons can’t hide their admiration because that’s definitely something you don’t see every day.

The video garnered millions of engagements.

In the video-sharing platform TikTok, the thirty-second clip boasts 7.6 million views and over 1.1 million likes.

It only goes to show the sheer intelligence and confidence that German shepherds possess.

However, it’s not only C.C. who can do chores like these.

The animal channel The Dodo featured Harlow who puts “retriever” in “Golden Retriever”. The video shows the dog identifying common household items and giving them to her owner.

She can recognize what a blanket is, a remote control, slippers, and even bottles of water. This level of intelligence helped her assist patients that she’s intended to help.

Another intelligent dog is Chaser.

Chaser is a Border Collie who became famous for her memory. She was trained by Dr. John Pilley who did groundbreaking research on dog cognition.

Chaser can attribute names to things, which her owners use to give instructions. In a show together with Niel de Grasse Tyson, Chaser got every single name right whenever the scientists asked her to retrieve them.

This only proves that dogs are smarter than they look.

“Dogs are smarter than people give them credit for” has long been a battle cry for dog lovers. And while research on dog cognition is fairly new, initial results are supporting the case.

Dogs are said to be much more adept than chimpanzees and babies when it comes to reading people. They are also capable of remembering words and can discern them from unintelligible language.

If it’s a result of thousands of years of evolving with them, the dice are still in the air. But it might be enough to convince you to start teaching your dog what your favorite brand looks like.
