German shepherd rescues newborn Pygmy goat and won’t let her leave her side
German Shepherds are known to be one of America’s most popular dog breeds. They are born with noticeable intelligence and they are also capable of being tagged as ‘working dogs.’
This breed is also known for its unparalleled devotion and courage.
“They’re intelligent and capable working dogs. Their devotion and courage are unmatched. And they’re amazingly versatile, excelling at most anything they’re trained to do: guide and assistance work for the handicapped, police and military service, herding, search and rescue, drug detection, competitive obedience, and–last but not least–faithful companion,” as described by the dogtime.com.
But what if a newborn Pygmy goat gets to meet one of these gentle giants? Will these animals from different kingdoms jive on the same rhythm? Will it be chaos or cuddles?
Meet Shadow! The German Shepherd who took good care of a newborn pygmy goat and treated it as its own kind.
Shadow is a girl German Shepherd who’s covered with thick and majestic white fur all over her body.
She’s known to be kind by the family who owns her but little did they know, this sweet furry friend could go beyond kindness.
When a newborn Pygmy goat was first introduced to Shadow, she knew that it was love at first sight.
Her motherly instincts came out naturally and it has been all love since then. She began taking good care of the newborn goat as if it was her own.
Pygmy’s are a type of miniature domestic goat. They are small, compact, and stockily built. Their tiny size makes them undeniably cute. Wouldn’t you agree?
The gigantic German Shepherd acts just like she’s the baby goat’s mother. It could also be that Shadow’s white fur makes the goat thinks that she really is her mother!
It looks like the newborn goat loves Shadow, too, and she easily gave in to her warm welcome!
The little goat seemed to be just as happy as her huge companion. She snuggled into Shadow’s warm body and let the German Shepherd lick and kiss her tenderly, with so much love and affection. Since then, the two have been inseparable.
The little goat continued to grow bigger under the supervision and keen eyes of her beloved foster mother.
Shadow always makes sure that her little one is properly groomed and protected.
The family who owns Shadow realized how loving their dog was and how far she can go beyond kindness to a different species of animal.
That’s why they support Shadow in acting as the baby goat’s adopted mother. The family was just simply happy to see their dog treating a tiny goat as her own kind.
We can learn so much from Shadow and the newborn Pygmy goat’s relationship.
We all know that animals are territorial, regardless of which kingdom they are from. They are possessive and they literally have the ‘animal instinct’ in them. But if they can shed their natural dispositions in favor of spreading some love, then so can we.
This misconception about animals was proven wrong by Shadow and the baby goat.
They are both animals but from a different species but, still, they managed to get along in an instant.
We can all apply this to our personal lives by accepting our differences and embracing diversity. As the famous line goes, “Everyone is unique.” But let’s not make our differences and uniqueness separate us from one another.
