We have seen dogs do some pretty amazing things before, and forming tight bonds with their humans is definitely one of them. One German Shepherd dog, though, named Baron takes the cake when it comes to “being there” for his tiniest little human, Alexander.

Baron does all the things that most loyal German Shepherds do.

He’s always excited to see Alexander when he wakes up, and doubly excited when he gets home from school. There’s no question that Baron would do anything for his tiny human.

Of course, that includes protecting him from danger, even other dangerous dogs.

When Baron, Alexander, and his mom were getting ready to leave the park one day, another dog caught site of the little boy and charged him. Thankfully, Baron had seen it coming and blocked his little human so that, when they were both knocked over, Baron took most of the impact and distracted the dog while mom got Alexander out of harm’s way.

All turned out okay, in the end, but only because Baron had been there to save his buddy.

STORY TIME. This happened about 3 years ago. Even today, this story has a good moral to it the picture posted was taken right before the incident. “Just got done at the park, as we were headed back to the car all I hear is “RUFUS!!!” Along with what sounds like a stampede… I turn around and a dog was headed right towards us on Alexander’s (whose 3) side.. This dog was running at a full sprint… I went to grab Alexander and Baron swiped around me real quick and blocked Alexander.. The dog took out both Baron and Alexander sending them both to the ground. The dog began to scuffle with Baron while I grab Alexander.. The owners came and got their dog and ran off. The moral of this story is, LEASH YOUR DAMN DOGS!! I’m so thankful Baron was there… That could’ve easily been Alexander ”

The doting German Shepherd dog takes care of his human in other ways too, though. Ways that go above and beyond many other dogs. Baron is a professionally trained dog, and he has made good use of that training by using it to make his best friend’s life easier.

As a result, the adorable pair have formed the most precious bedtime routine on the planet.

Most things about being a kid are great. You get to have a lot of fun, and you have the energy to do it. One thing that most kids agree isn’t all that fun, however, are chores. Nontheless, they’ve gotta get done.

Alexander is lucky enough to have Baron, though, who refuses to let him face them alone.

Every night when it’s getting close to time for bed, Alexander has to pick up all of his toys and tidy up his room. This task is quick and easy though with his German Shepherd by his side, who is right there picking up toys in his mouth and burying them in the toy box to play with the next day.

Once the toys are all picked up, it’s time for Alexander to say his bedtime prayers, and Baron helps him with that, too.

These two never want to be separated, so each night Baron puts his paw on the bed next to Alexander and says his prayers so he can play with Alexander even in eternity.

Then it’s time for Baron to make sure that his little human is nice and cozy for the night.

The German Shepherd grabs a corner of Alexander’s blanket in his mouth and pulls it up over his human. He pushes the blanket in around alexander with his nose, then settles in to listen to the toddler read him a bedtime story.

Baron listens closely to the fascinating stories Alexander reads him, then he hops off the bed and turns around to give his favorite boy a bunch of slobbery goodnight kisses. Now that it’s time for sleep, the smart dog walks over to the door and jumps up to flip down the light switch with his paw.

It might be sleepy time for Alexander, but Baron likes to help out his whole family in whatever way he can. So, he keeps on doing chores for a little while. He helps his parents load up the dishwasher with dirty dishes and anything else his humans might need.

The German Shepherd even helps his parents wake up in the morning by making them coffee!

While we already know that German Shepherds are super smart and have been praised for everything from drug-busts to search and rescue, Baron proves that they save the day every day for the humans that love them.
