German shepherd wows the crowd as he shows off his skills in a performance competition

With its first dog show taking place in 1891, the Cruft’s dog show is held annually in the U.K. The show includes a variety of competitions for various breeds and sizes of dogs, many of them occurring simultaneously to others.

The main competition is for “best in show,” but the show also features a variety of other competitions focused on agility, obedience, and dog handling, among others.

One dog in particular, at the 2013 Cruft’s dog competition, captured the hearts of the crowd when he competed in the Obedience Dog Championship.

The dog, a German shepherd named Zankanja Bitter ‘N’ Twisted, stole the show as he performed a 10-minute routine with his handler, Jenny Gould. During the routine, Zankanja had to execute a specific set of tasks when directed to do so by Gould.

A true professional, Zankanja was able to do exactly as his handler asked him to do and was one of the best-trained dogs to appear at the show.

During Zankanja’s performance, he stuck by Gould’s side, looking straight at her the entire time. He was ready to obey Gould with each new command, extending his neck to focus on her exclusively, despite the distraction of the large crowd in attendance.

What you need to know if you want to compete at the Cruft’s dog competition

For your dog to compete in the annual Cruft’s dog championship, they must first have a pedigree. A pedigree is a document that you get when you buy a pure-bred dog that shows proof of their lineage.

This is especially important if your dog’s family history includes past winners of dog show awards or if they’ve been recognized for having desirable traits. You should also make sure that your pedigreed dog is registered with the Kennel Club, the organization that sponsors the Cruft’s dog competition.

Another side of competing in the Cruft’s dog championship is to make sure that your dog is properly trained for the competition that you want to enter them in. You can train them yourself, if you know-how, or pay a trainer to train them for you.

Once you have gotten to the point of competing, you need to decide who will serve as the dog’s handler during the show. This needs to be someone that your dog has an established relationship with since trust is an important factor in any competition. In some cases, this is the owner or a professional handler.
