It is no secret that cats have pretty specific personalities. For the most part, they are pretty friendly, but that doesn’t mean they just give their love to anyone. Their love is extremely special, so they have to be selective.

Cats are pretty independent creatures, so when they show you love and affection, it is very real and genuine. Don’t question it.

Just take all the love you can get from the adorable little creatures! The good news is that when they love you, they probably will not let you go.

This user on Imgur, whose username is Potato Wasteland, had a very surprising experience with a kitten that proved just that a few years ago, back in October 2017. He took to Imgur to share more about it.

In an unpredictable turn of events, this man did not choose the cat.

The cat chose him.

Although this man (Potato Wasteland) wasn’t necessarily looking to adopt a new kitten, he did not fight it when the opportunity arose.

At the time, the poor kitten was an orphan.

PW was simply on his way to his car on one super cold evening when the little kitty scurried up to his side. It almost felt as if PW was the kitten’s chosen one, like he had just bumped into his long-lost friend.

PW wasn’t about to be a monster, so he did what any decent person would do and picked up the freezing kitten and brought her home!

He still wasn’t sure what he was going to do with her at the time, but he knew that he sure wasn’t going to leave her sitting in the cold.

On the first night, PW set the kitten up in a box in the garage (since he was unsure of her history and health).

He also posted a few photos of the adorable kitten online in case there was a family who was looking for her. The next morning he would bring her to a nearby animal shelter so that she could be scanned for a microchip.

It was there that PW found out that the kitten was probably a stray.

The bad news was that the shelter was already too crowded with animals, so they did not have the capacity to take her in. So, PW decided to take her in temporarily.

The non-cat-person decided that he would foster the kitten until she was old enough to be spayed.

It was a smart idea too because he could then have her surgery and vaccinations all done for a discounted cost.

“I didn’t choose the kitty life. The kitty life chose me,” he wrote on Imgur.

At the time, PW was considering a few different name options for the kitten, like Biscuit or Sunbeam, before eventually deciding to go with the former.

He was also planning on bringing her back to the shelter and then when she hits 2+ pounds, she can have her surgery.

After that long process, PW was finally able to adopt the ginger Biscuit and they are happily living together today. Yay!
