Gentle ginger kitty has the absolute sweetest conversations with his dad

Did you know that cat language has been developed so that cats can communicate with humans?

Indeed, very little of cat-to-cat communication is achieved through meows. A feline mainly gets its messages through to other cats by body posture and movements, scent, and touch. Meows are mostly used by kittens to draw their mothers’ attention and then they usually stop meowing. Until they need to communicate with a human, that is.

But, what do different meows mean in cat? And how can we tell the differences between them?

Well, this mostly has to do with the length and tone of the meow.

For instance, short meows are perceived as greetings, while longer ones probably express a demand. And, while low-pitch meows stand for a complaint, high-pitch ones show anger or pain. Of course, hissing and growling accompanied by an arched back mean you’d better leave the cat alone!

Now, while the majority of the cats use meows as explained above, there are some, like Kermit, who have actual conversations with their hoomans, that can only be interpreted by the two of them.

Kermit is a 5-year old orange tabby, who lives with his hooman, Javi. The two have developed a special relationship that extends far beyond the casual belly rubs and food and water provision. They share a bond that very few are blessed to have- they’re true friends.

Before adopting Kermit, Javier had been going through trauma and he had found himself in a very difficult situation mentally and emotionally. As he explained, his mom suggested he adopted a pet, so that’s why he got Kermit.

“Even going through therapy,” he told The Dodo, “there was just that moment where you’re talking to someone and they’re saying all the right things, but you don’t want them to say the right things.”

Apparently, what Javier needed at that point was not human contact, but a creature that would love him unconditionally without caring about his life, his past or his experiences, an animal that he could share his new life with, in his own terms.

“He is somebody that I can always talk to and I’m not going to get any judgement from,” he said.

So, when Kermit came into his life, everything changed. The kitty soon became closely attached to him and, not only that, but he also started responding to what Javi was telling him.

In the video uploaded by The Dodo, Javi and Kermit can be seen chatting. Whenever Javi calls Kermit’s name, he replies with a meow, and he really acts like a human in the sense that he understands what his owner is talking about, like when he says it’s time to go to bed and the cat immediately follows him!

It’s really an amazing friendship that benefits both the man, who was helped to overcome his issues, and the cat who has found a loving home to live the rest of his life.

The duo share an Instagram and a Tiktok account, where they post their adventures together, while Kermit also has his own website. What a lucky cat!
