Sweet pittie gets adopted by a girl who has the same "paw"

Truth be told, dogs in shelters compete with each other. And most of the time, the young and healthy dog has a higher chance of being taken home.

Sadly, this leaves the old or disabled dogs neglected and looked over.

Worse comes to worst, if there is no more room for new young and healthy dogs, they get euthanized to make room in the shelter. It’s the bitter fate of shelter dogs, of course, not unless it’s a no-kill facility.

Meet Bronx, the pup with a PAWSitive attitude

Bronx has ectrodactyly, a rare congenital disorder characterized by the absence or malformation of one or more fingers or toes. The condition is also known as split hand/foot malformation (SHFM).

Ectrodactyly can be caused by a number of factors, including genetic mutations, environmental toxins, and exposure to certain medications during pregnancy. The condition is often associated with other congenital anomalies, such as cleft lip or palate, ectodermal dysplasia, and heart defects.

There is no cure for ectrodactyly, but treatment options are available to help improve function and appearance. Treatment may include surgery to reconstruct the hands or feet, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.

Their fate is in our “paws”

Lainey, Bronx’s former foster mom, was told by the dog’s adoption coordinator saying that they have received a request from a family who showed genuine interest in adopting the adorable pup.

Interestingly enough, this family has a young girl named Brooklyn who shares the exact same condition as Bronx. It seemed like a divine coincidence, a truly perfect match!

The family learned that Bronx was being cared for by Three Little Pitties Rescue in Houston, Texas. So, without wasting any time, they embarked on a 12-hour road trip to bring their new furry companion home.

Brooklyn’s parents decided to keep the adoption a surprise, opting not to reveal their plan to bring Bronx into their lives. After a long day of driving, they finally arrived home, with Bronx now a cherished and the newest furry member of their family.

Brooklyn had faced unkind words from her peers at school due to her “difference.” However, the moment she met Bronx, her perspective changed. She began to embrace her uniqueness because it connected her with Bronx, and that was all that truly mattered to her.

From that day forward, Brooklyn and Bronx became inseparable, forging a bond that made them the best of friends. Bronx would eagerly wait by the window each day, anticipating Brooklyn’s return from school.

The pair delighted in playful moments, leisurely walks, and cozy cuddles. Together, they started creating beautiful memories that would last a lifetime.

Tina, Brooklyn’s mother, is beyond excited to see her daughter and Bronx grow up side by side, embarking on a life filled with thrilling adventures as the dearest of friends.

This heartwarming tale serves as a reminder that every creature possesses a unique beauty and true connections can be found in the most unexpected ways.
