Sickly pitbull sees little girl outside shelter cage and lifts paw to ask for help

Contrary to popular belief, pit bulls are not a naturally aggressive breed of dog. As with any dog, temperament in pit bulls depend in large part on the situation, their training, and how they are treated during their life.

In many cases, pit bulls do great with kids, as this next story proves.

It all started with a visit to the local animal shelter by a little girl and her family. After arriving at the shelter, the little girl found herself attracted to one dog, in particular, a pitbull named Scarlett.

The biggest problem with Scarlett was her condition, she had a shorter snout than normal.

Scarlett also had a bad case of the mange

Scarlett’s case of mange was so bad that she smelled horrible, but the toddler didn’t seem to mind.

Pointing at Scarlett with her finger, the little girl, named G. loudly proclaimed, “That one.”

Somehow, G felt a connection to Scarlett, even though she hadn’t even met outside the pit bull’s cage.

G’s mom scheduled a little playtime for the pair

Timid at first, Scarlett soon warmed up to G. G’s mom asked the shelter staff if Scarlett and G could go outside to play together.

After putting a leash on Scarlett, G was allowed to take her out to the outside play area. Slowly but surely, the new friends made their way outside to play together.

Once outside, G was gentle and kind to her new doggo friend. She even used her dress to clean the snot from Scarlett’s nose and the goop from her eyes.

G was smitten with Scarlett, and her mother knew it within minutes. They were all but inseparable.

No matter where G went, Scarlett was right there by her side. Scarlett wasn’t about to let her new friend out of her sight. Soon, though, playtime was over.

It was evident as G and her mother took Scarlett back inside, that G wouldn’t be leaving without Scarlett.

It was at this point that G turned to her mother and said, “Sick doggy. Need help. Go home.” Even though she didn’t yet know how to fully speak, she knew enough to speak what was in her heart.
