One of the best things about children is that they can make friends with each other so easily. And this isn’t just restricted to human children.

When the mother horse in this video gave birth to two beautiful babies, she was overjoyed.

The animals soon learned how to walk around. They were fascinated by the world around them. But then something happened that would make them even happier.

Before the foals were a week old, they made their first friend.

A little girl walked into their field. First, she said hi to the mother, ensuring that she was comfortable with her around the babies.

Then she walked up to one of the baby horses. The horse was fascinated by the girl. He had seen humans before, but never one this small.

Then he realized that she must be a baby just like him. (Ok, she was a little old to be a “baby,” but how could the horse know that!?)

The girl pet the horse’s head gently and made eye contact with him. Soon, the two had bonded.

In fact, the baby horse wanted to show how much he liked the girl by brushing up against her.

Soon, both of the horses had taken a shine to the little girl. They could tell that she was just like them.

One of the horses lay down next to her a little later. She pet the horse some more, and he rolled over, just like a little dog wanting his belly rubbed.

The girl got a little startled at this and jumped back. But then she realized that the animal was just wanting some more petting, so she came back to him.

Luckily, someone was filming this budding friendship. They uploaded it to YouTube, where it soon went viral.

The video has, to date, managed to gain over 6.7 million views. It also has more than 9,800 likes and 500 comments. People have been saying things like this:

People that are unfamiliar with horses may be shocked that the animals are so young and so active. But that’s typical of horses and many other animals. Most foals stand up just after being born. They need to stand up to nurse from their mother, so they don’t really have much of an option!

And many foals are able to start running just a few hours after being born. Just imagine a human baby getting up and running around the maternity ward a few hours after being born!

But there are some parts of foals that develop more slowly. For instance, foals struggle to graze upon grass, because their necks are not as developed as their legs.

The little girl in the video has maintained her friendship with the foals. She gets to see them most days, and they all relish each other’s company.
