5-year-old blows the audience way with her performance of Dolly Parton song
When children are little their life seems so wide open. They are still developing what they like and don’t like, and a decision on a career is still many years away. For one little girl, she might already have a career as a singer. She showed her chops on Ellen when she sang Dolly Parton’s song “Jolene.”
A viral video gets some attention
When a video was sent to the producers of the Ellen show of a viral video showing 5-year-old Violet Burdick singing, they knew that they just had to have her on. Her dad, Ryan Burdick, was a local musician who had raised Violet around music for most of her life.
Unknown to Violet’s mom and dad, her aunt had sent the video to the “Ellen Show.” To say that Ryan was surprised when she called one night would be an understatement. But Ryan did not have time to get mad as the show was calling them back within five minutes. Soon, Violet was scheduled to go on the show.
“This whole thing was amazing and it’s all Aunt Erin’s fault,” Ryan told Violet.
Flying safely from New York to Los Angeles
From Scio, New York, Ryan and Violet had to get tested for VOVID-19 before they could get on the plane for Los Angeles, where the show is filmed. Once in Hollywood, they had to undergo another test, as well as one in the car after arriving at the studio.
Once on the show, Violet and Ellen talked about her love of Dolly Parton, and how much she gave back to her community, through “Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.” They also talked about Parton’s past growing up poor and how the singer had helped fund the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
Singing a Dolly Parton favorite
Soon it was time for the young singer to show the audience her singing skills. As Violet and her father took their seats on a nearby couch, Ryan began to play his guitar. Soon, Violet was belting out the Dolly Parton classic, Joleen. To call it adorable is the very least that could be said.
The surprises just kept on coming
Inspiring the crowd with her flawless rendition of the song, Violet was able to capture the hearts of the audience. After the father-daughter duo was done, Ellen had another surprise for them, an all-expenses-paid vacation to Dollywood in Tennessee.
Violet’s future is in good hands
As for her future in singing, Violet is in good hands. Her dad, a musician in his own right plans to foster a love of music in Violet. He eventually plans on teaching her to play an instrument and build on her already great talent. And who knows, maybe she will show up on “Ellen” again.
“That is one nice thing about that show, they follow up with the child performers and to see them later and how they progressed. That is fun,” Ryan said.
