Everyday, “Bohemian Rhapsody” is playing somewhere at any moment in the world. The song is one of “Queens” most famous from their iconic career. Containing beautifully crafted lyrics and shifts in musical emotion. When the tune comes on the radio or in a bar, or even at karaoke, no one can resist singing along.

Queen has had an incredible music career. Forming the band in London in 1970 and still playing shows to this day. They have filled the airwaves with countless hits and have even been inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. Their music and vocal melodies have always brought people together from around the world and will no doubt, live on forever.

“I think my melodies are superior to my lyrics” – Original singer Freddie Mercury

Bringing people together is exactly what happened. When a group of young girls, ages 10-12 years old, brought their dance routine to the Radix Dance Competition in Anaheim, California. Now I think if you know the song, you know people often cover it by singing it because it showcases vocal talent. Who knew it would be just as powerful of a song to choreograph a dance routine around.

The dancers are all part of a company called Project 21 from Yorba Linda, California. They made the trip south to give an unforgettable performance full of energy for the lucky Southern California audience.

As the lights come up, the dancers are facing away and the performance begins with the slow emotional verses of the song. The girls gracefully move with intention and well-calculated moves. You can tell they have been training very hard as they are perfectly in sync with one another.

The music shifts more upbeat and the dance moves really start to accelerate. You can’t help but be in awe by the sophisticated choreography and the incredible talent that is required to pull it off.

Utilizing every inch of the stage together at times, but also the dancers move as individuals in other moments. It appears as if each girl has gone into their own routine, and then BANG! They seamlessly join each other again creating a stunning piece of art.

I can’t believe how talented they are to nail this choreography. No doubt this song really gets pumping when the distorted guitar of Brian May swoops in. It’s that moment, you can tell these girls really start to have fun. The expression on each of their faces makes that clear.

Nearing the end, as elegantly as the performance began, the girls move together slowly. Like tall grass in a light breeze, it’s captivating. As they all finish while laying on their backs, the crown roars with appreciation. I’d like to think the girls took just an extra second to bask the applause. And then without words, thank each other for the hard work and dedication they all committed.

The efforts paid off. Not only did the audience love it, but the judges at the Radix Dance Competition awarded the team 1st place in the “Junior Jazz Group” for their performance. Since the competition ended, the internet has been loving the video as well.

Their performance has been watched more than 965K times online and has received 16K “likes.” It’s pretty easy to see why.
