Litter of Golden retriever puppies completely mesmerized by storytelling dragon
Puppies are so cute. Not only are they extra cuddly, but a puppy seems so eager to learn new things, or as one video shows, to hear the unique sound of a stuffed dragon telling a story. The puppies are so enraptured when the storytelling toy begins to talk and can’t help but pay attention.
Dalton the Storytelling Dragon
The toy is called Dalton the Storytelling Dragon from Cuddle Barn. The soft, purple fur of the storytelling toy makes it the perfect companion to tell a nice, relaxing story to a child, or in this case, a group of golden retriever puppies.
Five classic tales
Dalton can actually tell five classic fairy tales, including Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, The Ugly Duckling, Sleeping Beauty, or, as in the case with the puppies, Jack and the Beanstalk. As he weaves his wonderful tales, Dalton also moves his mouth and head.
Jack and the Beanstalk
As Dalton begins telling the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, the puppies all gather around. They are all curious about what their little, purple friend has to say. As the book that Dalton is holding begins to change color, the curiosity of some of the puppies is piqued even more, and they draw in closer.
Getting comfy with Dalton
With his soothing words, one of the puppies soon cuddles up to a toy lamb in the pen with them and falls fast asleep. The puppies live in Redlands, California, at a family-operated breeding house, SunnyDreams.
You can also find another video of the puppies and Dalton on the company’s Facebook Page. In that video, Dalton is reading the classic tale, “Hansel and Gretel” to the puppies, who swarm around and nuzzle up to their storytelling friend.
The benefits of reading to a puppy
It is not just Dalton and his puppy pals who are enjoying a little storytime. Experts say reading to a dog also has some benefits for their human companions.
And this practice is not just related to kids, as adults can enjoy it too.
Dogs are known for their stress-reducing abilities. In fact, cuddling up to a fury adult dog or puppy can help relieve tension, slow your heart rate, and help you relax. Reading just six minutes a day has been shown to reduce stress by up to 68 percent.
Drifting off to dreamland
So, imagine the stress relief from combining these two things. This can also work for your puppy after a long, excitable day. Just grab a book and snuggle in for a nice relaxing read, and, before you know it, your puppy will be off to sleep.
