It is very natural for the dynamic to change in a family when a newborn baby enters the picture. Sometimes siblings will get jealous, older relatives will step in to help, and sometimes, even the family’s dog will lend a helping… paw.

It is also no secret that golden retrievers are hands down the friendliest type of breed you can ever interact with. I mean, are their hearts not made of complete gold?! Their playful personalities totally shine through as they get along with every member of the family.

So given all of this information, what do you think happens when a newborn baby enters a new home with a golden retriever?

The golden retriever welcomes the baby with open arms!

The loving pup is more welcoming than you would ever expect.

A video was uploaded to YouTube back in September that showed a baby, the baby’s family and the very helpful dog. The adorable nature of it caused the clip to quickly go viral and it now currently has over 2 million views and 43,000 likes.

It’s easy to see why it went viral… It is insanely adorable!

The adorable clip begins with a baby sleeping in its crib. Then it shows the golden retriever, who is also fast asleep (probably dreaming of toys and treats).

Then, as the baby begins to stretch and wake up, the dog notices and gets up immediately. He tends to any need the baby might have as he hovers over the crib and watches carefully. The dog clearly has made it his duty to watch over this baby!

The dog starts to rock the baby’s crib.

He sticks his snout in the crib and then one of the cutest parts happens… The sweet dog puts his paw on top of the crib, looking as if he is a guard claiming his territory. Once his paw is on the crib he begins to rock it back and forth so that the baby can feel at ease and fall back asleep.

Who needs a parent to stay with their child when they have a dog that doubles as the most attentive babysitter?

Seeing this all go down seriously makes us question if the child even really needs their parent — the dog is so good at babysitting, it is almost human-like.

After rocking the baby’s crib, the dog runs up the stairs to find the baby’s mother. She is busy with house chores but he doesn’t care — he uses his teeth to gently tug at her dress and pull her downstairs. His message was clear and the mother could tell that her baby needed her. And it’s all thanks to the dog.

When the mom makes it down the stairs, she sees that the pup was right and had good intentions. She picked up her baby and began to rock them back and forth until they were at peace once again.

The baby falls back asleep and so the dog falls back to sleep… That is, until the baby wakes up and begins to cry. The dog gets up once again and runs over to their side before getting the mother, who is in the kitchen, for a second time.
