But could you have ever imagined a dog being a parents to some kittens?

Well, one loving Golden retriever took it upon herself to be a mother to a litter of kittens. She instantly fell in love and treats the new babies as her own.

It’s the most wholesome thing you’ll see all day. She showers the little fur balls with her adoration. It’s too cute to handle!

This certainly isn’t the first unlikely animal friendship. But this retriever has taken it a step further with her maternal instinct.

Who says dogs and cats can’t be best friends?

It’s so heart-warming to see that an animal’s maternal instinct kicks in just the way a human’s does when they adopt a child.

This pup is caring for a littler of five newborn kittens.

If there was ever a dog breed that would step in as a mom for another species, it’s a golden retriever.

They’re already globally known to be great with kids, very intelligent, and gentle dogs.

So really, it’s no surprise this golden is making a great mom!

What makes this even more adorable, is that the golden didn’t even need to step up and parent these kittens. They’re not orphans – their cat mom and dad live in the house too!

So really, she’s not so much an adoptive mom, as a dogmother. Get it? Like godmother, but for dogs.

These kittens are in for a life full of love!

They have cat parents, a dog parent, and human parents too. That’s co-parenting at it’s finest right there.

It’s also fun to see how some of the kittens look more like their mom, and others look more like the dad! None bear any resemblance to their maternal dogmother, of course, but they don’t need to notice a difference.
