There’s a saying that a dog is a man’s best friend, but who says it only has to be limited to dogs and humans? Animals can be best friends with each other as well, and canines are known to be incredibly affectionate and compassionate. The bonds they form with others – whether they’re humans, other dogs, cats or even different animals altogether – can be absolutely beautiful.

An absolutely perfect example of such a heartwarming bond is the one between this adorable golden retriever and his new best friend, who is just a little bit smaller than him.

At first, the encounter between the larger golden retriever and the tiny black puppy goes a bit awkward, as the dog doesn’t really know what’s going on. Of course, you could say the same thing about the cute black tiny furball, who has just recently been welcomed to Earth. However, after a few minutes pass, what we see on the video is just pure, heartwarming love and affection. After just a small sniff, this golden retriever realizes that what’s right before him is none other than a tiny puppy!

And what do dogs do with new family members? Spend some time with them and show them some love, of course! The golden retriever immediately wants some playtime with the tiny little furball, and the retriever even tries playing with the dog by grabbing a shoe to mess around with.

They just met and they’re already playing games together, and it’s just an adorable sight to behold. And you don’t have to take our word for it – just take a look at the amazing footage at the bottom of this article.

It doesn’t take long before the small pupper hops out of the box and joins his large best friend!

Just a couple of seconds later, the tiny pooch is already drinking some milk next to his new buddy from an adorable tiny bowl. After licking a bit of that yummy milk, these two continue to hang around together for some super enjoyable playtime. It’s absolutely amazing to see how this friendship started and has evolved.

Of course, puppies grow up – and as the tiny furball started getting bigger, so did his love for his bigger brother. These two energetic animals chase and play with each other all around the house, sharing their toys and even dining together. Their tug-of-war battles with each other are hilarious to see, and it shows that two best friends can definitely have some competition once in a while.

But there comes a point when the younger puppy has a lot more energy to spend that the larger golden retriever while the tiny pooch does love to receive attention from his sibling. One of his tricks is to simply run circles around the retriever to try to get him to play along for a bit more, but eventually (and luckily), the tiny pup gets tired as well.

When they’re both a little bit tired or exhausted, you’ll often find them snuggling against each other. How cute!
